Some videos do not run on Windows 10

  • Hi members! I reviewed the post about video problems. I followed several recommendations, but still find videos on youtube and FB that can not be seen, although the audio is heard and thumbnails are displayed in the progress bar. I leave here a video example I can not see. It was uploaded to YouTube in * .mp4 ● Win 10 Enterprise x64 ● K-Lite CodecPack 12.0.5 Mega installed ● FlashPlayer tests work properly. https://youtu.be/X1xvdvMGGO0 Thanks in advance Regards. Attachments:

  • Plays with Vivaldi 1.1.443.3 on Windows 10x64 Pro.
The codecs are used from installed Windows (i think from Windows Media).

Do you have activated Hardware acceleration (HWA) for Video, please see in vivaldi://gpu ? OK, works without HWA.
Which Windows version and build do you have?

  • No problem here as well

  • Video

Works for me too, checked both

    Vivaldi 1.0.435.42 (32-bit)
    Vivaldi 1.1.443.3 (64-bit)

On Windows 10 Pro 64 bit

  • On Windows Pro x64 I have problem with the sound when playing YouTube videos on higher speed- sound is intermittent.
Same problem exists when playing videos on higher speed on Pluralsight.com.
I guess the problem is general.

  • I think the problems are not with Flash Player, but with * .mp4
With other browsers all videos look good.

    Windows 10 v.1511 Build 10586.3 Enterprise
HWA is active. I can not find the option to disable.

  • @mib2berlin:

    Hi, you can disable HWA:

    vivaldi://chrome/settings/search#hardware

    Cheers, mib

    Yeahhhhhh!

    Problem solved disabling HWA

Thanks a lot your effort and patience, bro, High Members and Moderatos..

  • Seems some Intel graphics chips need a Disable HWA!

I only had such issue on my old Netbook with Linux, that such issues appear on Windwos 10 was new for me.
A ol' dragoness like me can learn more and more ;)

  • Eureka! :P

    1) When I disable hardware acceleration, I could see the videos that previously could not, but… :woohoo: then found I could no longer see *.pm4

    2) My lappy is a HP DV7. Has chipsep AMD, and two video cards: Intel HD Graphics 3000 (integrated into the processor i7) and ATI Radeon HD 7400M (integrated into the motherboard)

    3) I uninstalled all programs, utilities and drivers of the two video cards using the Windows Program Manager.

    4) Whit AMD Clean Uninstall Utility I cleaned all drivers caches.
Can download from: AMD Clean Uninstall Utility

    5) Reboot the computer. It started in compatibility mode video. A few minutes later, Windows Update automatically installed native drivers for AMD chipset and Intel HD Graphics 3000. Windows did not recognize ATI Radeon card this time.

    6) I found Vivaldi running normally Flash and * .mp4 videos, with hardware acceleration enabled.

    7) First I installed the package AMD Chipset I had previously downloaded from: AMD Chipset Drivers
Windows then could recognize the Radeon onboard graphics card, and installed native drivers.
Then returned the problems: I could only see one type of video.

    8) Again, I uninstalled AMD drivers using the specific utility.

    9) I ran a utility that detects AMD hardware and download recommended drivers. He downloaded a package that includes drivers besides the AMD Catalyst Control Center application, which allows us to configure switchable graphics.
Can download here: AMD Driver Autodetect

    10) I made a few experiments. I realized that if I assign the Radeon card (high performance video) to Vivaldi, the problem is repeated and keep seeing one of the types of video.

    11) Finally I set the switchable graphics for the system to assign only the Intel card (Energy Saving Mode) to Vivaldi. Thus the two video formats with hardware acceleration enabled work.

Conclusion: I noticed that many users have video problems. In any post I read that another user whit dual video card had the same problem. The problem then, could be any incompatibility of Vivaldi with ATI-AMD switchable GPUs

    Only my two cents.
    Regards.

  • Did you report the video issue with this hardware constellation under Windwos 10 already as a bug to https://vivaldi.com/bugreport/ ?
If not, please do it and post VB-Bugnumber here.
This Dual-GPU video MP4 HWA problem should be investigated by Vivaldi devs.

  • Summary: Possible incompatibility between Vivaldi and the ATI-AMD switchable graphics
    Key: VB-17783

  • Sad news for you :(
the devs cant reproduce the issue because noone at Vivaldi has such hardware like you to test.

  • Jajajaja

    is a HP dv7

  • Another clue:

A user of a Facebook group Vivaldi said to have the same problem.

He has a laptop with AMD C-60 processor and integrated AMD Radeon HD 6290 graphics card.

This user has an infinitely greater than mine problem, because does not have a second video card to assign to Vivaldi. :woohoo:
