Possible bug in filters
-
A filter that looks like this -
(to:Jane AND from:John) OR from:Jane OR (cc:Jane AND from:John)
retrieves emails to Jane where John is in cc.
-
AFAICS amended filters do not seem to work as expected…
Delete and recreate the Filter to see if that produces the expected result. If it does then repeat process (delete and recreate) but this time use:
(to:Jane AND from:John) OR from:Jane OR (cc:Jane AND from:John) OR (cc:John)
Now amend the filter to:
(to:Jane AND from:John) OR from:Jane OR (cc:Jane AND from:John)
and Update Mail Filter. If email cc to John still appears in result then consider raising a bug report
-
Additional insights
It seems that the order of the query is the most determining factor - more than the brackets used. -
@yojimbo274064400 In the current version I just discovered a much more simply reproducible bug:
"Update Mail Filter" simply cannot narrow down the filter, it only can extend the results. E.g.:
start with
from:Adam
then amend to
from:Adam OR from:John
Filter updates correctly, showing more results.
Now revoke the last addition:from:Adam
Results don't change.
Result is similar if we apply any logical restriction, like:(from:Adam OR from:John) AND subject:apple
Someone ever tested this?
Is it reproducible?
