Duplicate feeds from particular.net
-
Out of the dozen+ feeds I have added to Vivaldi, one seems to be causing issues by "producing" duplicates.
This might not be a bug in Vivaldi but rather caused by how particular.net have implemented their RSS feed - every now and then they seem to "re-publish" their entire feed and the entries get new timestamps even though the content has not changed. Vivaldi sees them as new entries and keeps fetching them every time.
For comparison Opera M2 was somehow able to detect that content hasn't been changed and these entries would not be downloaded (or if they were they were discarded without my knowledge). Would be nice if Vivaldi implemented something similar and would de-duplicate based on the content not just [presumably] headers.
Has anyone ran into something similar? Is this already tracked in Vivaldi issue tracker? -
@lemanis
that's a long standig bug, but I'm away from my computer, so I can't tell you the exact bug number (search in my posts 2 years ago 😉)
videolan.org duplicates also their rss feed -
@derDay, I was not able to find the issue in your posts but it's good to hear it's already known and being tracked - it's been bothering me for a while and with each new release I hoped it would be resolved. Hope it gets more attention soon. Is there a way I can vote for this issue?

Same issue here, with numerous feeds (x 10 at least)

There is a post on he subject here:

I hope duplicates can be fixed - with 20+ duplicates that I have for EACH post this app becomes unusable.
Returning to Liferea app in the meantime. -
@cecille
sorry to desillusoin you but that this Dino-old bug is smashed within some days (or weeks) is unlikely.if you don't empty your trashbin (and all deleted feeds stay there), the duplication don't occur any longer.
nevertheless your trashbin is growing and growing
