Extensions' keyboard shortcuts don't work
-
@pafflick Unfortunately, the 1Password extension "Activate the Extension" shortcut still malfunctions. Tested in a fresh install of stable (6.1.3035.111) and snapshot (6.2.3070.3)
Ctrl + Shift + X (Activate the extension) does nothing, while Ctrl + Shift + L (Lock the extension) works to lock 1Password.
I've checked that there isn't a conflicting shortcut in Vivaldi Settings (it was a fresh install after all)
Two strange things I've noticed.
- You can't change scope from Vivaldi to Global
- When edit the shortcut, set it to Ctrl + Shift + X (the same as it was) and then unset the shortcut, it will tell you "Shortcut set: Ctrl + Shift + X" instead of showing "Not set". Not sure if that can give a clue about the issue.
Short explanation on why this shortcut is important to 1Password users:
This shortcut not working is detrimental to the workflow, as the only thing stopping us from using the 1Password extension only on keyboard is this shortcut issue. 1Password itself has some good shortcuts inside the extension to search/copy/edit passwords among other things.
And for security reasons, the 1Password extension locks itself after x amount of idle time, so we have to unlock it multiple times a day.

@haaijer-toine
I can confirm that 1password activation shortcut doesn't work.
Vivaldi snapshot 6.2.3070.3 (64-bit), on W10 x64.Lastpass and Bitwarden shortcuts for opening the extensions work.

I have the same issue with Okta.
6.1.3035.111 (Stable channel) (64-bit) on Win 11 -
I have the same issue with 1Password.
6.1.3035.111 (Stable channel) (64-bit) on Windows 11 -
same problem on fedora 38
6.1.3035.111 (Stable channel) stable (64-bit)

Following up to mention that I am also having the same issue, regardless of OS.
The workaround to set the Extension shortcut to Global is greyed out for some extensions (the ones I most want to use).
Not sure if this is due to security or something different.
Does anyone have any other workarounds? -
Hey, all of a sudden, extension shortcuts now work. They started working with today's 6.2 update (the one with fast-er window opening).
All extensions (in multiple profiles) are set as "In Vivaldi", not Global. -

Hey, all of a sudden, extension shortcuts now work.
Congrats, happy use of extension is promised now!?

is promised now
I'm sure you said something snarky there, but it was lost on me.
Could you please explain your joke? -
@TheBestPessimist Ehem, perhaps my stranger's worse translation. Now, i lost the idea what o could have meant.
Now you can think: "OMG, this german ol' lady talking to much…"
You know, over the aeons of years old dragons get rusty. -
@TheBestPessimist Ok, no body promised anything.

6.2.3105.43 (Stable channel) (64-bit) on Windows 11 Pro 22621.2215, but haven't found any working extension shortcuts so far.

Extension shortcuts seem to be broken since 6.2 update ; reported bug ; VB-99601, but still unconfirmed.
-
Vivaldi version 6.2.3105.45 (Stable channel) Windows 10, extension shortcut is working on my side.
The extension was tested:
- Bitwarden
- uBlock Origin
- Violent Monkey
-
It's broken when multiple Vivaldi windows are open; seems like the last opened window is considered the only eligible target to open the popup at; at least on Linux/KDE.
-
Behavior described in https://forum.vivaldi.net/post/662246 and by a couple other comments since then still persists.
I do believe the "activate" shortcut likely requires pop-up while the "lock" shortcut does not. I saw a couple of mentions of pop-up behavior on this thread, and it appears that the "activate" shortcut for the Vimium extension is non-responsive, as well.
Now using
6.4.3160.44 (Stable channel) stable (64-bit)
on Manjaro. -
@leegenes Input Vimium in Quick Commands and the action popup will show, this can be bound to any keyboard shortcut. Well, not that straightforward, it’s not part of command chains, but you could work around it. Anyway, the Quick Commands way is valid.

Thanks, @luetage. Didn't know that. It also works for 1password, which is great. Appreciate you pointing me in that direction. This is a major improvement to my workflow, as trivial as it seems.
Having the default functionality for something like this would definitely still be better, even with the workaround being a not-so-painful one. Acknowledging that it's likely not a simple fix if it's persisted this long though, and appreciate the team's effort on it over the years.

Same issue for me. Bitwarden keyboard shortcut not triggering. Tried changing the shortcut combination, still the same issue. It works perfectly fine in Edge, just not Vivaldi (v6.4 as of this writing). This is on Windows 11.

I posted about this 2 years ago. This is literally the only thing keeping me and others off Vivaldi... How is this STILL an issue?
It's maddening.
