Problems with URLs

  • I really don´t know if it´s my isp, the browser, or what... For example. if I am in http://www.sostav.ru/articles/rus/2010/15.10/news/images/3lu1.jpg watching the image, and i remove the part of /3lu1.jpg so it will be http://www.sostav.ru/articles/rus/2010/15.10/news/images/ , when i press ENTER when i have http://www.sostav.ru/articles/rus/2010/15.10/news/images/ it reloads again the image (the jpg I mean). What can it be? Thank you in advance. Carlos Octavio

  • I have the same problem. The first enter never works in the address bar. The second one does.
The first one goes to the previous address. The second attempt works.
    Windows, version 1.0.435.42 () (32-bit)

    I cant confirm this with 1.0.435.42 x64 Win 10x64

  • I tested little more. It happens only sometimes, but I cannot determine when. It is very irritating to end up at a wrong address when you have written the url.

  • Same thing here. I enter a new URL in the address bar (from another URL), and the address goes back to the previous page, not the new destination.

    1.0.435.42 () (64 bits) on iOS.

  • Confirmed.

Found in 1.0 and in latest Snapshot 1.1.443.3 64bit on Windows 10.

It does not depend on the URL itself, or if it points to a image, webpage or whatever. Just quite often, the currenty displayed URL is reloaded, if you key in something into the adressbar OR the search-field.

  • Exactly. Thank you for describing it better than me :-)

May be i depends on the autocomplete of address field from typed or visited pages.

Try to add a blank after the deleted part of URL and the hit Enter.
    Does this work?.

  • @laph:

    Confirmed.

I experience the same behaviour on the latest snapshot 64 bit / W10 and since one or two snapshots before that. It happens (much) more often than not, and also frequently when I open bookmarks through the bookmark bar (I set it to open those in the same tab, not sure if it also occurs when bookmarks are being opened in a new tab)

  • It doesn't depend on autocomplete, adding a space doesn't change anything.

Currently, most of the time, when I enter in something (a URL, either with or without scheme://; search terms) or modify the URL in the Adressbar, the old URL is reloaded.

  • Well, in contrast to my last post, I now have to add: If I disable "Adress-Completion" ("Adressvervollständigung", don't know the exact English term) completly through Settings -> Adressbar , it seems to work.

I tried that, problem still occurs.

  • This is a very annoying bug.

For me, it only happens when I stay too long on the same page. Then while going to another website I doesn't work. Have to do it a second time. As if the page I'm currently in is stored in a cache when I'm here since a certain amount of time and then trying to reach another website just clears this cache instead of bringing me to the desired website.

  • I have a related?? problem. When clicking a bookmark in a folder on the bookmark bar, it often refreshes the current page instead of loading the new one. I filed a bug report on it the other day. Win 7-64 Pro, Vivaldi 1.0.435.42 (32 bit).

  • Can confirm, I have the same problem on 1.0.435.42

When I type a new URL on the address bar, Vivaldi reload the currently displayed page instead of loading the new URL. This happens very often.

  • Can confirm issue on Windows 10 64bit

Typing directly into url box when visiting a site gets me nowhere.

The bug is already confirm internally.
