Netflix/Spotify does not work after updated to Vivaldi 5.2
-
Hello!
After update to Vivaldi 5.2 (5.2.2623.39), the DRM-protected media stopped working.
The same happens after installing Vivaldi Snapshot 5.3.2652.3Spotify reports "Something went wrong with the playback" error.
Netflix reports "M7361-1254" error code.
In vivaldi://components I see the Winevide is at the newest version of 4.10.2449.0What I discovered is that Vivaldi's Widevine is linked to the one from Google Chrome. But I have never had Google Chrome installed on my computer...

Does anyone have similar issue?
Do you have the same symlik in your system? -
@088 I have such symlink on Debian and Ubuntu.
In vivaldi://components I see the Winevide is
Try to hit Update button below the listed widevine entry and restart Vivaldi.
Then check where is your libwidevinecdm,so stored:
sudo find / -name "libwidevinecdm.so"
-
@088 Have you run
/opt/vivaldi-snapshot/update-ffmpeg --user
? -
Oh, now after a update one from 5.2.2623.39 is broken with Widevine DRM
I will check 5.3 now. -
@doctorg NF continues to work perfectly in my Laptop [latest V-Stable; Mint Cinnamon] & my Tower [latest Snappie 5.3.2652.3; Arch KDE].

I was trying to update several times before posting my issue. It changed nothing.
But thanks for the hint with searching for the lib. I have found one in my user's home:
/home/kojasins/.config/vivaldi/WidevineCdm/4.10.2449.0/_platform_specific/linux_x64/libwidevinecdm.so
Then I tried to link it like below and restart Vivaldi, but it didn't help. Here are links I tried:
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 42 Apr 25 12:03 /opt/vivaldi/WidevineCdm -> /home/kojasins/.config/vivaldi/WidevineCdm lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 54 Apr 25 12:08 /opt/vivaldi/WidevineCdm -> /home/kojasins/.config/vivaldi/WidevineCdm/4.10.2449.0
At some point I started to mess with the link so much, that I accidentaly removed the libwidevinecdm.so from my home dir... Well... As there was no option to go back, I reinstalled the Vivaldi browser:
apt install vivald-stable --reinstall
then updated the Widevine plugin in vivaldi://components. And after restarting the web browser, Spotify and Netflix are working again.
And turns out there's still a link to Google Chrome. So it seems that was NOT the root cause of my issue.
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 30 Apr 15 03:05 /opt/vivaldi/WidevineCdm -> /opt/google/chrome/WidevineCdm
BUT
This time Vivaldi downloaded Widevine version 4.10.2391.0 which is older than the one I had before. And the update button says there are no newer versions.
I'm going to report a bug to Vivaldi, as I don't know why and how newer version of Widevine is sometimes installed and sometimes not and seems that it's causing the issue.

@088 no need to report bug, i did it already.
Broken on my Debian 11 with 5.2 and 5.3
