Quit complaining people, it's a technical preview!!!!
-
I think little people actually know or understand what a technical preview is
A technical preview gives an idea of what one can expect from the final.
So some missing (basic) settings (which btw Chrome lacks as well) won't be available anytime soon if ever. -
I am not so sure about that. I don't know the exact definition of "technical preview", but what you describe sounds more like a feature-complete Beta version. I'm not 100% sure, but I consider a TP to be more like an Alpha or even pre-Alpha, where feature completeness has not yet been achieved.
Am I mistaken?

After 24 hours testing Vivaldi I feel confident to say that the OP is wrong, we have every right to complain, Vivaldi comes with no disclaimer advising not to use it to do this or don't try to do that, so we test it and if it doesn't work we complain, I don't care if you call it alpha, beta or omega, you put it on the market, it has to work.
Vivaldi's Tech Preview is a strange beast, it is not even an alpha, because even an alpha should allow the basic functionality of using numbers when you write without the side-effect of changing zoom level or switching between open tabs, this is ridiculous.
Some people say ¨you cannot use it as your main browser¨
I say you cannot use it at all, not even as your fifth browser, this is just a snapshot of the browser that will come, it has the potential to become my one and only browser - the way the real Opera was for so many years. -
OMG  Technical preview means "pre-alpha" or just "snapshot" as you've said. Therefore it's not supposed to be used for some serioud work, because it can (and probably will) containt some serious bugs. Do you really need some disclaimer? I still believe it's not neccessary to put signs like (attention, contains a milk" to a box with milk, but this is exactly what you want when you says "there is no disclaimer" - god, it's technical preview…
So yes, you can and should report bugs and feature requests, go ahead. What's wrong is to wrap it with "it should work since it's production SW and you're stupid that it doesn't". -
Guys, we are working on fixing bugs. Eventually it will become better and better, alpha software will always have issues. It's hard to get a good quality level without mass-testing

I believe old Opera has so many fans that we can provide you massive testing. Just give us bugtracker to make it more firendly…

We are working on getting the bug wizard up and running
-
Well, on the main page where you download it, they do state it is far from finished. Compared to the technical previews Microsoft sometimes releases this one is actually for more complete than I expected. With some older IE previews it was not much more than just the render engine with an address bar.
I have been using it the whole morning so far while developing (not for testing the site, but looking up information on the internet) and so far I like what I see.
-
Therefore it's not supposed to be used for some serioud work,
writing an email where I type numbers it's not that ¨serious¨
the side-effect of activating the zoom level or switching tabs when I type a number it's a joke.
Vivaldi has so many features that a lot of stable releases out there don't have, let me make an example, when I click ¨compose¨ in my webmail I always get a new window in FF, Opera or whatever, when I tried that with Vivaldi it opened it in a new tab, I said to myself wow! amazing! then I start typing and the numbers make me go crazy. Let's hope the good stuff will remain and the bad stuff will soon be not even a memory.
This is a unique project, I am thankful and happy that these people have decided the niche market we represent was worth the effort, but I have spent so much time in the last 18 months - after Opera died - switching browsers never finding a satisfying solution that I am eager to see Vivaldi fulfill its promise. -
This zoom bug is annoying, just got notice of it today. Will have it fixed
-
We are not complaining, we are just helping developers to find bugs and add features, which we (users) want

Which part of "download technical preview" you find confusing?
Even if you don't know what a "technical preview" is, every person with the basic understanding of English should know what a "preview" is.
It's like watching a teaser and complaining that the movie was too short.
Don't complain. Report bugs, suggest features - that's what this preview is for.
-
Hi, when can we expect the next version (approximately), and how often are you going to release new version? You know I've been waiting for something like this for over a year so I just can not wait when I can test new versions
PS. Great we have some contact with the developers. The creators of a new Opera, unfortunately, are not willing to talk with the community
-
writing an email where I type numbers it's not that ¨serious¨
OK, this sounds like a serious bug Just report it and stay calm. I think at this moment it's neccessary to have another browser opened beside Vivaldi, because it doesn't allow me to enter some e.g. some internal company site. So keep it, try it but don't consider it as final product. That's all I wanted to say.
-
We will have frequent updates, similar to Opera "dev" releases or the old type "snapshots".
Things will go smoother after a while, we just need things to go back to normal after the initial release

I had no doubt about that

Nothing to complain about here:
- HTML5 Test scored 511
- Acid 3 Test passed with 100
- Peacekeeper Benchmark failed
- PDF file loaded nicely
It is far too soon to say whether this will ever replace Opera 12.18 as my default browser, but it is a step in the right direction. Ignore the whiners — they're not worth the time of day — but do listen to polite and constructive criticism.
I am too busy now to do much testing for the next few months, but I will keep track of developments and I have alerted others to the release.

Nothing to complain about here:
Same here. Installed on Win7, working as usual, incl. mouse gestures, importing bookmarks and so on. Better than O27 so far. Installed on Ubuntu - same result.
I used Opera since 1998, so I have experiences in browser troubles. Vivaldi is nearly okay in pre-alpha, so what to expect when ready? Give me some privacy features, and I'll love it for sure.Michael

as i don't do much 'serious' stuff in a browser Vivaldi is now my default program, shame theres no 32bit version at the moment for older hardware, but, its the best chromium based so far for what i need it to do

The zoom bug was reported by me and plenty of people already as well, all they need is to add is the Ctrl modifier to it and problem solved. Most bugs are not terrible things which will take months to solve but can be fixed rather quickly.
As for the preview, of course you should not use it as your main browser replacement. Not yet people. If you do it, its under your own risk. I don't think its usable yet, for basic reading and browsing sure, but not for real stuff.
Its day two, so don't be so impatient. First they need to get all the feedback and bugs reported, a bug tracker is indeed a good idea. A change log would also be interesting and a newsletter to keep us informed of new versions or some special news site because as bugs gets fixed I think most want the updates as they keep coming.
I don't agree with complaining. Complaining is not reporting bugs or giving feedback, complaining is whining like kids when things don't work, that is not reporting things or providing feedback, that is just plain complaining and trows negativity everywhere. Be professionals. You want the development team to be motivated to do their work, not send them bad vibes about how bad something works and how terrible it is. Constructive criticism is welcomed. Complaining? You have absolutely no right to complain, you did not paid for the product, you spend nothing, it was free, you should be thankful. If it was something you paid then you would have the right to complain, as its free and they said it has bugs and its a preview, you have no right to do it since nobody is forcing you to use it.
