Solved Vivaldi crashes after upgrades
-
I don't know if this is a Linux specific issue or general. Nearly every time Vivaldi has an update/upgrade, I cannot get it to start without silently crashing. The profile selection window appears, then disappears after about 3 seconds. It appears to be something related to stored profiles, because if I delete the profiles from .config/vivaldi, Vivaldi starts fine.
The following thread describes what I am experiencing, but since the bug tracked in that thread has been stated as fixed, I don't think it's the same issue.

I would dearly love to not have to recreate my profiles with every update.

Removing the Session_ & Tab_ files worked tho.
Thank you.
Was the second update in a few days that broke Vivaldi starting.

My Snappies in Arch KDE haven't been doing any of that annoying stuff for quite a while, iirc.
Does the
Sessions
part of this post help at all?love to not have to recreate my profiles with every update
Indeed! When you do recreate them each time, have you been starting from scratch, or recycling various files & subdirectories from your old profile? Also, do you use extensions, & if so, have you tested to ensure it's not one incompatible extension doing all the harm?

I have no way to test disabling extensions since I can't start the browser to disable them.
