      I wish that menu pages (File,Edit.View etc.) would close when they lose focus, for example, when a mouse button is clicked outside of the menu page.

        If anyone is interested, this was cause by a conflict between Compiz and Vivaldi. A bit of a shame since I like them both, but I guess it is a choice 😞 .

          @andym48 The menus do close when I click outside of them.

            Interesting - Linux or Windows?

              @andym48 If it is not closing on your version of Linux, ask first in the Linux Forum then submit a bug report if you don't find a solution. (I could find no previous reports on this issue).

              Please see How to Report a Bug.

                Apparently this works on the Windows version, but not on my Linux installation:

                $ uname -a
                Linux acer 5.17.1-arch1-1 #1 SMP PREEMPT Mon, 28 Mar 2022 20:55:33 +0000 x86_64 GNU/Linux

                  That is exactly what happens for me, & tbh i don't think i recall a time when this didn't happen.

                  My V's behaviour as described above pertains both to my Default & a virgin test profile. Furthermore, in my test profile, it works as i described for both menu options:

                  I really think i must have badly misunderstood your post. Are you truly saying that if you activate your menu [in either mode], then move the pointer away from it, back onto some other part of the V UI, or even just your desktop, then click, your menu still remains open?

                  If yes, then i suggest you retry it in your own virgin test profile.

                  What's your distro & DE/WM? For comparison i'm on Arch KDE... but it works as i described in numerous other distros & DEs i've used either historically on-metal, or in present days with VMs.

                    Yes, that is exactly what happens to me. Thank you for the reply, it should help me to find out what is going on in my set up.

                      So I have discovered that if I reload vivaldi (eg: log out and log back in again) it all works as expected. But the longer I have vivaldi open the slower the menus take to close. Note that I have vivaldi open all the time, and my PC is permanently logged in, so we may be talking about many hours of use.
