Serious typing issue that needs fixing ASAP

  • Hi there! There's an insanely annoying issue that should be fixed as soon as possible. I'm using other forums, but this happened to me on all kinds of websites before. When I type in a text in a text field, and want to correct something by deleting with the Backspace button, it sometimes suddenly forgets that I'm in a text field typing a text and goes instantly back to the page I was viewing before, deleting all the text I typed in. The most infuriating thing about this is that it usually asks if I really want to leave the page in cases like this, but it skips this tiny important step and goes back immediately. Also, this is highly unpredictable. There's usually a certain character amount that it reaches before changing the functionality of the Backspace button, but can't quite predict that. It works well with Firefox, so definitely not my system's fault. Though I'm using Ubuntu 15.10 with GNOME, if that helps.

Ah, you are one of the users having such problem on Linux.
Seems to depend on which Linux distribution and Windows manager is used. :(
Such issue with Backspace is known and reported as a bug. VB-14643 "Single key shortcuts broken"

Is this in normal text fields or with Flash sites?

Workaround: You may switch off the Key shortcuts in Vivaldi until the bug gets fixed.
    Open chrome-extension://vivaldi://settings/keyboard/
    Select "Disable keyboard shiortcuts"

Both. And thanks for the workaround, I hope that solves it until the fix. :)
