I don't understand this bit. Does it help down the road in any way to people who lost the custom search engines now?
Yes - down the road - once 5.2 Stable is out, the new round of Snapshots will start, and the engines that were migrated to the new "syncable" format will (hopefully) return.
Have patience - I understand it sucks to lose custom search engines, if only temporarily. But this is what is to be expected from time to time when testing snapshots - no warranties for data loss etc...
I was also forced to redo all my custom Search Engines, but I had a backup so it was a relatively quick operation. If you have a backup of your Vivaldi profile from before the new SE sync, you should be able to do the same with a bit of work.

I will update the tracker now.One thing I found interesting... is the Win7 theme "native" in Win10...?! How come and how come I've only ever seen it with this Vivaldi glitch?
If the Win7 theme is indeed buried at the bottom of a pile of code somewhere it's yet another example of Microsoft's sloppy work (along with retaining every buggy and badly-implemented bit of UI since the inception of Office decades ago - just buried under more and more layers of additional UI kludges, same thing with Windows settings and control panel, Word having "eaten" my final thesis and the backups - more than once!, OneDrive auto-saving a presentation 200 times in half an hour then locking up due to lack of space, appallingly implemented login for their online services which has both made it hard for me to log in and out of things yet at the same time opened up colleagues' e-mail to me when I didn't use their user names... I could go on.)

Function now does not anything. Chrome removed it in favor of “Search for Image With Google Lens”. Disabling chrome://flags/#enable-lens-region-search does not bring "Search for image" function back. Right context menu Item is there but not working.

@stagger_lee Works here, clean profile of Vivaldi 5.1 Stable.

FYI Vivaldi team is working on improvements of image search, ability to add own image search engines. It will not come in 5.2 release that's just around the corner, but likely soon after, maybe in 5.3.

Works in Stable version (the same notebook) but not in Beta version. Snapshot 5.2.2623.16.
Linux OS, Arch. (I disabled all extensions) -
Regarding „search engine issues”:
- Search for Image seems to be broken as well (Win10 x64)?
Or I'm the only affected/defected one?

@gif2d I assume that the reversion of Search engine sync also reverted changes to image search. I have Search Google for Image, but it is not shown in Settings, Search.
-
Waiting for next security fix of Vivaldi as Chromium 100....73 for Extended Stable and Stable was released.

I confirm. I also do not have image search on WIN11.
