Sent e-mails are uploaded into the wrong sent folder
-
I am using a private e-mail server and I have set my online folders correctly. I am using a self-hosted instance of roundcube mail for that (as Vivaldi does).
When I sent an e-mail via the Vivaldi mail client, a copy of the sent e-mail gets uploaded into the archive folder instead of the real special folder sent.
Why? - Because I have subfolders in my archive folder.
My archived e-mails are not directly in my archive folder but in the subfolders archive.inbox and archive.sent.
It seems that the mail client looks for a folder called sent and uploads into that and maybe because the sent folder as a subfolder of archive comes last (my guess), it goes into there.I would expect that the mail client uses the one sent folder that is actually configured as the special sent folder on the server.

Interesting bug. Yes, that's probably the case with the Sent Folder (so switching the Archive Sent Folder to something else than sent should work).
Wondering whether other clients have this problem too?
Can you file a bug for this?

Hi @gmg, maybe this is related to VB-75872
imap-folders-edited/11?_=1619246112754or VB-79091 Additional IMAP folder created
https://forum.vivaldi.net/topic/59982/sent-mail-is-not-saved-on-server/12?_=1648117744499
(or maybe it's totally unrelated :-))

Hi, similar issue here:
- On my IMAP-Server theres a folder named INBOX.MailStore Export.{xxx@xxx}.Sent
- M3 saves sent messages in this folder instead of INBOX.Sent which is my desired location.
How to change?
-
Can you have a look at my most recent post. Is there a solution to the issue?

@monomorph
This seems to be because of multiple folders in account of type sent.
For a temporary fix you should be able to change the type of the folder on the server.
We do need to fix this for users so they can choose which folder in their accoutn shold act as teh sent folder -
Thanks for answering.
I don't have a clue on how to change the folder type.
What do you think when the fix will be available?

@monomorph
It's on our list and known. Currently everyone working on other issues, but I'll keep this one in mind and hopefully we'll get to it soon. Did you make a bug for it? -
- How to report this as a bug? Is it possible from within this thread?
-
@monomorph
Hi and no, you can add a link to this thread in the report:
For information on how to report a bug, see this URL: https://vvld.in/how-to-report-bugs
Once that is done, please share the bug number (beginning with VB-). Thanks.
On the form, you can add your email address. Once submitted, you'll get a confirmation. You can reply to this with any logs or further info.Cheers, mib
