Sending/Syncing Tabs between devices not working
-
@brianrubin Not yet.
-
@brianrubin: Nothing new I know of. Maybe @DoctorG?
-
Bad, that Chromium removed this feature, and Vivaldi devs have to patch workaround.
@brianrubin No progress at this time for a fix.
-
@DoctorG Hey I'm thrilled it's being worked on. Thank you!
-
Hi, any updates on this?
I really don't wanna change my browser just because of this. -
So friends, I've been using the reading list to supplant this sync functionality and it's been working rather well. I highly suggest it as an alternative for the time being while they hopefully fix the sending tabs issue.

@brianrubin
Hi, you can always use the cloud icon right top on desktop and the same in the tab viewer on Android to show open tabs on other devices. Not as comfortable as "Send to" but work.Cheers, mib

OH nice, never used that before. Thanks!

@DoctorG: Do you know if there is any progress in regard to this topic? It seems to be either not-so-high priority or probably not so easy to implement / bring back to feature. Am I correct with those assumptions?
-
@patrickweiden As Chromium 108 and 110 core does not have the feature re-added at this time, Vivaldi will not get it back as fast as we want.
No progress. -
@DoctorG: This is strange. Can the Vivaldi devs not possibly take a look at e.g. Brave, which still has the Sync feature implemented? As Brave is open source, it should not be a problem of getting code for this feature to be used in Vivaldi, I guess...
-
@patrickweiden I guess, if it would be so easy, the Vivaldi devs had already added the feature.
-
@DoctorG: It depends on the time the devs have to work on such features. If the priority is not high enough, I think there could be not enough time left to work on this topic... (I also assume that it takes some time to find out which code of Brave etc. could be taken, where to insert it into Vivaldi source code, etc., and that this analysis could be very time-consuming...)
-
@patrickweiden I pinged a dev internally to get an answer.
-
@pappageek yea I did same thing !! got rid of Brave thinking Vivaldi will be better but ffs lots of bugs and issues !!
-
@marius_zz Thanks for your rant! But Vivaldi can not fix it as it is a removed feature in Chromium core.
And i wish you: be happy with Brave.

There are an estimated 1.5 trillion ways to get a tab onto another device using Vivaldi functionality. I’m baffled by this topic. It should also be noted that »send tab to another device« has always been the slowest of the bunch and nagged with a silly popup. The topic is old, but nowadays the reading list is the most casual and non‐committal way to share a tab between devices.

Besides the reading list, what are the other 1,499,999,999,999,999 ways to get a tab to another device?

Hi, I use the cloud icon right top on the desktop or in the tab manager on Android.Cheers, mib

@brianrubin Bookmarks, notes, synced tabs, QR code, email, or alternatively anything else your OS might provide (think KDE Connect). It’s not like it’s impossible or hard and there are many options to choose from.
