Hide Title Bar
-
To me the biggest waste of space is the title bar, Is there any way to hide this with vivaldi in Windows? For comparison, I do this in firefox with https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/hide-caption-titlebar-plus-sma/ which puts the options button on the next row down by the back button and hides the title bar; the minimize/close buttons are optional. Interestingly, the Show User Interface option in the settings seems to do the exact opposite of what I am looking for, it hides all the things I want to keep, like tabs and URL bar, but still shows the title bar, the one thing I want to hide.

Probably the most anti-intuitive setting in Vivaldi:
Settings > Appearance > Use Native Window > uncheckThanks for the reply. I do have this option unchecked, the windows title bar is not what I am referring to, it's the Vivaldi one that remains when you uncheck that option. It's the row that has the Vivaldi button (or the File, Edit, View Tools, Window and Help menus). Basically, ideally the top of the window should just be a row for the address bar, and a row for the tab bar (assuming tabs are not set to display on the side).
here is a picture showing this setup on firefox. Notice there is no wasted vertical space with a caption or title bar.

Here's a screen shot of the very top of the maximised Vivaldi window, without the title bar, with Use Native Window not checked, and Remove space above tabs checked. The menu bar is also not displayed. Use the button menu.

this is a great way to merge the titlle / menu bar.
This does not work if you desire the address bar (and tabs) at the bottom. I personally, don't want to even see the tabs because the tab selector is wicked.

@Applepie i'm really agree. I see no changes now. I would like to place tabs to the left, and address bar to the bottom. But there is annoying bar on the top with no functions except minimize, close and vivaldi btn. I want it to dissapear.
-
I would also like seeing address bar in the title bar. My screen is so large, it makes sense to have more vertical space...

@al3xst Is this at all possible with mac? Wish I could just remove the stupid title bar all together and move the "close-min-max" buttons down into the address bar. I'm running on an 11inch macbook and need all the space I can get! I'm almost to the point of where I want it to be but the title bar is such an eye soar and waste of space

Is there any setting to do this now?
-
@SVGuss Not without modifications.
However, there has always been Fullscreen mode. It is possible to assign shortcuts to show/hide the Address Bar, Status Bar, Bookmarks Bar, Tab Bar, and Panels. All of them now work in Fullscreen mode. Focus address field (F8 or Ctrl+L) also works in fullscreen mode without any other toolbars displayed. So too, does F2 which can be used to find and switch tabs.
-
@Gwen-Dragon to hide title bar or merge it with address bar. most monitors are wide screen these days so vertical space is more important as we have plenty of horizontal. I think this would be a widely used option.
-
@SVGuss On Windows, the Title bar is already merged with the Tab Bar (unless you're using a Native Window in Settings, Appearance).
Even if you prefer not to maximise the window, the Tab Bar is still merged with the Window Title Bar. What are you not telling us?
-
@SVGuss You can also hide the address bar and use (F8 or Ctrl+L) in Windowed mode to save more vertical space.

@Pesala I have my tabs bar to the left (one of the reasons I use Vivaldi) so ontop I have this absolutely unnecessary empty space with page name. The only important element there is windows minimize and close buttons, but they could be just lowered to the address bar level... I wish

@SVGuss Thanks. That was the missing piece of the jigsaw.
Vote for Combine Window Title and Address Bar when Tabs are on the Side
There is a CSS fix linked to from there.

@Pesala Thanks, that looks exactly what I need! But where do I insert the code? (I'm using standalone version)

@SVGuss Ask in the Modding Forum are search there. It is beyond my paygrade.

@Pesala Thank you!

Did it, just copied the code on top of common.css in \Application\2.2.1388.34\resources\vivaldi\style and restarted Vivaldi. It worked!

@d3f4ult same here! hate this waste-full title bar above
