(Reported bug VB-15465) Vivaldi does not open some popups after update to Vivaldi.1.0.435.29

• I cannot open some popup winows due to a missing extension. I do not find out which extension got lost. It is not one of my own (installed) extensions they all work properly The URL is: chrome-extension://mpognobbkildjkofajifpdfhcoklimli/ So the question is, how to findout which file is missed? Or how to install Vivaldi again and save all my user data before (settings, passwords, bookmarks, extensions, ???) ? Attachments:

• Using the extension id; a search gave this thread:
https://vivaldi.net/en-US/forum/vivaldi-browser/3645-speed-dial-as-home

• Thanks for your answer

However, even my speed dial (start page) works well - only on some sites the popup does not open. So I can't see how the link you gave could help in that case.

The question remains: how to save all user defined settings like bookmarks, passwords, preferences, plugins and so on and to reinstall Vivaldi completely.

What are the files that store my most important settings - I rather save them before installation and write them back afterwards instead of trying how to repair Vivaldi.

• %LOCALAPPDATA%\vivaldi\User Data ;)
Copy and paste into windows file explorer and press enter…. :)

• I know the folders - anyway: which files of these folders must be saved before a new installation for

passwords
bookmarks
own extensions
settings

Well, that would indicate that the "error message" is not related to your problem (i.e. not that specific missing extension).

I am unsure which files are needed to save your extensions and plug-ins, but if you want to reinstall to solve the problem, why save the information which may well include the problem (extensions/plug-ins)?

What I would do is simply install Vivaldi into a different folder and as a "standalone" application (click advanced on the install screen).
Then you can import Bookmarks and Settings from your current Vivaldi install.
Check your problem urls - we can't help because you haven't identified them.

Then install plug-ins one by one checking again (note: do you need any other than Flash PPAPI ?)
Then install extensions one by one checking again.

Note: you might as well be sure to get latest version of Vivaldi 1.0.435.42 when you do this. B)

• @TBallmann:

Is this the error message you get in the popup window?
Your file was not found
It may have been moved or deleted.
ERR_FILE_NOT_FOUND

If yes and it is a javascript link, please find my workaround:

• Click the javascript link
• leave the new TAB with the eror message open
• go back to the invoking TAB
• Click again the javascript link
• Select the TAB with the error message. Now will be shown the content of the window.

Here is an URL "http://www.telekom.de/privatkunden/zuhause/internet-und-fernsehen/magenta-zuhause-m-entertain"
It is the javascript link "javascript:openWincity()", see attached PNG-File
or
URL: "https://www.arcor.de/ums/ums_maillesen.jsp?ordnername=Posteingang&umid=3479&sortieren=datume"
It is the javascipt link "javascript:openHTML()"
Unfortunately you need an arcor email account. See also post #51736 and VB 15104.

OK - I can reproduce the problem.
Ignore the "spurious" error message, it is not a missing plug-in but something to do with the javascript function which is causing Vivaldi a problem.
Unfortunately, I don't the knowledge of Javascript to work out whether there is a bug in Vivaldi (which appears to be the case here).
Hopefully someone else will know more than me.

Your English is much better than my German :D

For your information, there is a German forum here https://vivaldi.net/en-US/forum/german
I can understand enough to know that there is good support available there as well.

• Hier ist ein Beispiel ohne daß man einen Acount benötigt
Here is an example that can be tested without any account data:

http://www.mcseboard.de/topic/172579-action-center-meldungen-konfigurieren/

Open one of the both links below the text "Hier sind 2 sehr gute Artikels über Action Center via Group Policy, mit diese Artikels kannst du richtig verstehen." - the problem the link cannot be opened in a new popup window can be reproduced.

Not for me

the first link
http://www.grouppolicy.biz/2010/03/how-to-use-group-policy-to-turn-off-the-backup-notification-in-the-windows-7-actions-center/
Opens fine in a new tab.

the second link
http://blog.alt-92.net/index.php/2010/11/02/windows-7-action-center-prompts-and-gpo-preferences/
Opens a new tab with "HTTP Error 404. The requested resource is not found."

Edit: There is a related "bug" that causes popups always to open in a new tab (instead of a popup) which appeared with the Final 1.0 version; and is being worked on.
See https://vivaldi.net/en-US/forum/vivaldi-browser/9365-javascript-popups-broken
However, that is not exactly the problem with the error message that you reported, so do we need a new bug report

To be safe, I would suggest that you report it at
https://vivaldi.com/bugreport/?pk_campaign=forum-windows

And give the details using the telekom.de information.
Because the loading on the second click is curious/interesting. ;)

You could also include a link to this thread.
That bug still occurs for me with latest snapshot 1.1.443.3 (Developer Build) (64-bit) on Windows 10 Pro

• I will report it later or tomorrow.

However, what has the telekom-linkt to do with that?

• I meant report the problem you found with javascript on the Telekom site.
My like was to the Magenta page that you found the fault on - not their homepage :)

• In did report it - however, i have no url of the report. So maybe someone else might found out the URL and the bug number?

• You should have received the bug number in a confirmation email.

The actual bug system is closed, so we can't see it :(

• Reported as bug: VB-15465

• Error found: a ad blocker (AdMuncher) lost one of the user defined rules. So popu windows did not open properly.
