@npro Thanks for sharing your opinion but I use this browser for 5,5 years and I really know what a buggy behavior is. And yes, this is a bug and was introduced in last snapshots.

If you think that something should work in a different way, please fill feature request.

Don't need to, as your request wasn't ever popular (1 vote) and was never intended to work that way anyway, this (current) is the appropriate behaviour for proper privacy protection that Vivaldi managed to address finally (UI works in a different technical layer than native Chromium, which provides core Private Windows functionality) as it seems. On the other hand If you think it's a bug you can report it as one.

@npro There are several users (myself included) who use private windows as their usual window because they clear cookies, cache and history upon closing, not because of a desire for additional privacy from other users of the same computer. It is immensely frustrating that more and more restrictions are being placed on private windows (e.g. one now cannot open a guest window from a private window - what's the logic of that?) in the name of privacy when all we want is the auto cookie/cache/history clearing feature. According to your logic one should not be able to download files or bookmark pages in a private window either, which I'm sure others would not agree with. The fact of the matter is that as long as one does not consciously save a session in a private window, it will not be saved, so there is nothing wrong in having the additional convenience in case one does need to save work in a private window in order to continue with it later.

What @ROTFL reported is a bug, as saving sessions in private windows has worked perfectly since v1 (since before that feature request; I don't even know why it's a feature request when it has always worked).

Better and better guys, but still some things missing or working bad.

I switched from Opera 62 (yes, old version, I don't like later updates to panels), I am using browser very extensively, opening lot of tabs while searching (100 - 200 tabs from search results on Google etc.). But Vivaldi is relatively slow in some cases compared to Opera, including the old one v62:

      1. Vivaldi slow down current page while opening new tab in background

      2. slow feedback from address bar - when I open new tab and start typing url address or make paste by CTRL+V, I must wait a second until I can type url address, otherwise some letters missed

      3. displaying tab menu (by right click on tab) is slow, about 1 - 2 second to show tab menu
video uses slightly more CPU than Opera

      And missing some other features:

      • option to do not mute tab until focused (clicked), it 's annoying when I want to click on the tab with youtube and he is muted

      • option to set "Save as" as default action for download

      • option to save video popup position and size for "forever"

      • ability to open html file on new tab by drag&drop to Vivaldi tabs bar

      • option to customize menu for subfolders in favorites menu (on favorites bar on top)

      • option to use favicon or touch icon from html header as thumbnail on start page

And this request is "nice to have" - ability to customize UI icons in Vivaldi - maybe by using one PNG strip with icons.

Anyway, Vivaldi is now a very usable browser and I (hope definitely) switched from Opera to Vivaldi. Thanks guys.

Yea, upvotes are serious indicators if bugs are real, sure... lol

If you have never used this feature please stop saying how "things should be". Everyone uses a browser in a bit different way.
"My way or highway" has never been a motto of this browser.

I think Private Windows are simply so very demeaning. They should be, at the very least, Lieutenant-Major Windows... albeit maybe those might refuse to minimise.

Hey, I just started using the Vivaldi calendar and it is really nice to work with. However there are some minor issues I got:

      • Calendar: maybe as an optional setting: show Tasks without time (that saves space and is often not needed in a task, except when it has a due date)
      • Calendar: when searching for a task the date 01.01.1970 is shown in the result list
      • Calendar: [OS: Windows] [Ctrl] + [del] while editing a task title closes the input popup and deletes the task. (In a normal editor that combination deletes the whole word next to the input cursor.)
      • Calendar: tasks: please make a new setting: tasks ordered by "completion" status

@hexianpeel I hope, trying a Snapshot will not drive you in a state described by famous Dante Aleghieri as Abandon all hope, ye who enter here.

Do not forget: Daily backup of Vivaldi profile. Snapshots can be dangerous beasts munching browser profile data.

Looks like page load progress in Vivaldi is showing random information.
Either it is faked or its code consist mostly of bugs.

      Where 167.6 MB comes from?
Why 0 bytes appears all the time?

@vort I think the image is very large and sent in stripes (data blocks) from server, when there is no loading it is displayed as 0 bytes.

      1. It loads from disk cache:

      2. Should the number be equal to total amount of loaded bytes?
"0" can be speed, but not total amount.

@vort Yes, the 0 bytes is strange. Seems to be a bug of address field. Is this known bug:
VB-77573 "Weird numbers of loaded bytes/elements in address bar"

@fendar: In its calendar Vivaldi also supports adding links with corresponding titles to an appointment. Links can get rather long (i.e. a link to a meeting room with a ton of GET variables in it) and when I add such a link and provide a title I would expect to only see the (clickable) title in the calendar and not the whole link. Please at least make the display of the link optional when a title has been provided by the user. Thanks!
P.S.: in compact mode the calendar it is a little better but again: The URL is not needed there when the title itself gets being the link. You would save a line there.

@doctorg Thanks for the concern 🙂

I expected another build to come by the weekend though, as RC1 of next Vivaldi for Android major release arrived today. But Vivaldi's team also deserves some rest after all their good work 😃

Nice, the two themes I submitted have been greenlighted, feel free to check'em out everyone (and lemme know what you think of it, I may make more of them)! ✌
