Some video doesn't play after upgrade.

  • So I just upgraded from 1.0.219.50 and now NRK TV, video on BBC and various other news sites have stopped playing. This happened with another version I upgraded too as well and I had to revert to the old version, which plays any video I throw at it. Is there anything I can do to solve this issue? I have Flash FP 21 NPAPI installed and changing it for PPAPI is not an option, so if that's the only solution I guess I'll just stick with 1.0.219.50 in perpetuity.

Unfortunately, Vivaldi requires the PPAPI flash because that is a requirement of the Chrome engine Vivaldi is built on.
If you are unwilling to install this version, then there is no solution for you - except using another browser (Firefox and derivatives).

  • Try cleaning your browser cookies, cache, site data, etc….
A good extension for that is click & clean: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/clickclean/ghgabhipcejejjmhhchfonmamedcbeod
    Hope that helped~ ;)

Has this always been the case? Considering the older version worked just fine until today, I mean?

Anyway, thanks for the info. I guess that spells bye-bye Vivaldi as far as I'm concerned.

  • You don need such extension which downlaods and wants to start a strange MSI installer! Thats more malware than a usable addon. Such "extensions" fear moste users.

Use Ctrl+Shift+Del and select what you want to delete permanently.

  • I don't think I quite get your meaning…. I don't have a single extension in Vivaldi, or didn't have I should say, as I've now uninstalled it.

  • Agrippa don't be confused - extensions won't help/wouldn't have helped unless you install PPAPI flash.

Note: the change was imposed by the Chrome engine - not sure exactly when, but I think it was around December last year (Beta 2 perhaps)!?

Gwen-Dragon was replying to werty8763 about the extension he recommended.

  • Roger that. Shame it didn't work out, but no biggie.

Thanks a lot for the assistance!
