New Capture and Sync UIs – Vivaldi Browser snapshot 2431.3
-
I can't log onto the Google account. I receive a message that says my browser isn't secure.
-
@zavalita2002 Known issue with Vivaldi Mail & Calendar.
[Mail][Calendar] Google login popup on restart with an OAuth Google account in M3 or Calendar (VB-82865): You will need to login once per session, switch to “App Password” login or set your Gmail account as an offline account
Or do you have the issue with regular Google account login?
-
@zavalita2002: Is the google crypto token enabled in settings?
-
can we get a fix for this bug?

With the regular Google account login.

@pettern Hmm... I don't remember, I uninstalled Vivaldi already. I'll try again perhaps.

@zavalita2002: Do you have an extension adjusting your user agent? If so disable it.

How can I use PWA?
-
@nazariansani Right-click on tab -> Create shortcut for the moment.
-
@npro: That is for a shortcut to a website, which almost the same. For a website that supports/expects to run as a PWA (like Twitter) you get an "Install" option.
PWAs get setup in the Vivaldi Apps subdirectory with a pre-defined name. Shortcuts require you to enter a name and you can choose if you want them to open as their own window (like a PWA) or just in a new tab (i.e. almost like another form of bookmarks but outside of the browser).
-
@ruarí oh, didn't know that, thx. I don't use twitter or pwas you see
-
@npro Re-read by the way. I edited that as I realised my own assumptions were a bit off when I tested again.
-
If you want to remove/uninstall PWAs (or shortcuts) have a look under vivaldi://apps.

Wow, new capture UI is awesome. Great job.
-
PWAs and these shortcuts also get integration with your Desktop Environment, e.g. Here is one of my systems running KDE Plasma
On Linux this is achieved by placing a .desktop file under "~/.local/share/applications" and icons under "~/.local/share/icons/hicolor"
Those are for the the Twitter PWA.
Again a real PWA will get a proper icon. A shortcut might not.

Actually you can do that in the PWA/Shortcut as well now I think about it
-
I am actually now wondering why I have Slack installed as a real application in Linux.
Slack is an Electron app (i.e. based on Chromium). So I might as well just have it as a PWA/Shortcut. Then it acts like the real application and yet uses the Chromium backend from Vivaldi, rather than installing its own.

@guigirl I enjoy watching guigirl giving commentary on Ruarí talking to himself.

@doctorg Or is the correct term "Ruari will not get grumpy"? On dear, my English knowldge is sometimes not good enough. Hmm, get angry? Get grumpy? Am i wrong?
