Will Vivaldi Browser’s harmony with Discord get users to switch?
-
In this video from Vivaldi’s Pro Tips series, we meet three subjects, who are at different life stages, but have a love of Discord in common.

@susanbn , it's needed to have a social network and Discord is a alternative, but I don't like and don't use Discord, because of their PP, which is a atrocity (Grade E, the worst, in tosdr) https://edit.tosdr.org/services/536 , not so good, when Vivaldi promote privacity.
I use Lemmy in my web panel, also great to create communities, Open-Source federated Reddit alternative, build in Rust (public instances or self hosted) -
@catweazle I kind of don't bother paying attention to tosdr.org, mostly because I can't take seriously a supposed privacy rating community that gives a site like Reddit (sometimes not well managed, some questionable practices, certainly not particularly privacy-friendly) the exact same rating as a site like ****ing Facebook (literally been hauled before the US Congress for its failures of privacy and deserves much, much worse), without distincton or nuance. Give me a damn break.

Interesting article.
But don't you have to be at least 13 (or older, depending on your country) to use Discord or you will be violating its terms of service? -
@viqsi , but you can read the PP of Discord itself and compare it. It's not better than Facebook, include share user data with them and others related services.
I am one of the few who always read the TOS and PP of a site, before registering or not and in Discord I will certainly not do it.
It is precisely against the ban of business models based on user surveillance that Vivaldi promotes and this is why I find it contradictory to use social networks that use this practices -
The most surprising thing about this is the fact that teenagers are this welcomed and respected in relatively adult, nerd tech discord. And have fun. Neat.

Where is the harmony between Discord and Vivaldi compared to other browsers? I mean, you can tile and make stacks and such, but that’s not Discord specific and I would never use it for that purpose. The glaring shortcoming is that Discord doesn’t work well in a webpanel, albeit chats being prime candidates to quickly toggle from the panel container. The issue is webpanels are sadly just second class tabs lacking proper integration.

How would they even know who's a teenager, and who's not?
-
@lebaux: Well one of them isn't a teenager, he's a twelve year old.
So uh -
