Translate selected text – Vivaldi Browser snapshot 2392.3

I did get a crash today, but I’m not sure if it is in any way related to the other reported crashes. It is most likely specific to my compositor [or any that doesn’t support drag&drop], because it happened on accidental drag during text selection. The processes didn’t exit, but I think the connection to the Wayland server was closed (the window disappeared and I had to kill Vivaldi).
Relevant log (which suggests that it’s a compositor error)
[1070:1174:0828/133205.506819:ERROR:wayland_event_watcher.cc(242)] Fatal Wayland protocol error 0 on interface wl_data_source (object 227). Shutting down..
Edit: reproducible (in kiwmi) –
- start d&d → things start acting weird as usual
- close the tab with a mouse gesture (because only that is recognised and because closing the tab returns things to normal)
- start d&d again → protocol error
I wonder if this is considered misbehaviour from the server’s or from the client’s side… // apparently it’s in the base protocol, so I guess it’s a server error

@t0yz said in Translate selected text – Vivaldi Browser snapshot 2392.3:
Notifications, more specifically being able to click them in the Windows 10 Action Center, are still broken (3-4 builds now).
That means that the most Vivaldi notifications persist in the Action Center until you Clean All Notifications.Found a way to reproduce this. If you have Vivaldi installed for All Users in its C:\Program Files\Vivaldi location, and then install it as standalone someplace else, without making the new install default for anything, it should mess up notifications, trying to open them in the new standalone install. If you delete the standalone install, the notifications remain broken and cannot be clicked to disappear from the Action Center. To fix this, you need to uninstall the All Users install of Vivaldi, and reinstall.
Even like this notifications are still pretty inconsistent. For example, let's say you get a twitter notification. It won't open it in a new tab when clicked. If you have twitter opened in some background tab, it will switch to the like/reply etc., but not refocus the tab. Reddit notifications, same-ish.
IMO the way notifications should work is they switch to the tab/relevant part of the webpage when clicked.

@t0yz Yes, the latest installed Standalone catches all toast notifications.
A weird issue, was already reported and confirmed. -
I've got a few crashes on Linux too. The only thing in common is that I was selecting text - I always do that while reading. Need to get some sleep now, but will report ASAP.
-
@infosrefanvlad Do you think it could be related to [accidental] drag&drop? (Because it would mean that the crash I reported isn’t primarily caused by kiwmi.)
-
@potmeklecbohdan I've only got 3 crashes, last time I remember clearly I dragged a little... The others IDK. I'll update and see whether the new version has any more issues.
-
@infosrefanvlad I still get the crash with 2406.4, so I suppose my issue is something different.

@doctorg I think it’s a compositor ‘bug’, so there should be nothing for Vivaldi (or Chromium) to fix.
