Unable to install Chrome Add-ons in v4.1
-
Hello, i have updated on v4.1. I have tried to install some add-ons, but on Chrome webstore i can not install anything. When i click on specific add-on there is NO button to install...
So what's going on? How can i install add-ons?
Thank you for your help.So does it mean that it already happened what is going to happen sooner or later: the Google will switch off the add-on support for successful anti Big Brother browsers as Vivaldi or Brave. This is the core and WEAKEST point in whole strategy of all alternative Chromium based browser for the future - to rely on dark lord, the Great enemy of humanity and freedom named Google!
It is time to get fully independent! Sooner, the better!

@xtech Have you checked if
Web Store
is ticked inSettings | Privacy | Google Extensions
? (Don't forget to restart Vivaldi if you have to tick that setting.) -
Ok, you probably mean the "Internet Store" under "Google extensions". I will check it out. Thank you for the tip.
-
Do i need to restart the Vivaldi? Because it does not work, i still can not see no button to "Install"anywhere...
-
@xtech Yes, you need to restart Vivaldi. If it still doesn't work, check it out in a clean profile because you might have a different issue.
-
@xtech If you click on Add to Chrome in the Web Store the extension will be installed. A restart is not usually required in my experience.
My advice is to not rely heavily on extensions, but to vote for Vivaldi to implement things natively.
There is often a workaround to solve most issues without installing lots of extensions. I use WordWeb Thesaurus and an extension for the Vivaldi Forum Mod.
What do you need to do with extensions?

This is what i see in my Chrome Store - NO Add or Install button at all..
Of course, it is good idea - to implement all extensions in native Vivaldi GUI. BUT it should be well organised. Those 'implemented extensions' should be on one place, and it must looks like the proper extension list with simple ability to switch on/off and ability of settings. In case it will continue like this, it will be really hard to orient here..
So let's think on this first. Because to use implemented extensions is one possible way to avoid Google's closed door for extensions - it happens sooner or later. It is sure.

PS: I previously installed several extensions, and they work. But i can not install the new ones on v4.1! I do not know, but it might be the BUG of new version...
I hope it is not, but it seems like. I have my profile tuned up, so i will not definitely to start with the new profile. In case i will have to i give it up. I have no time and patience to install and set up again.. This ULTRA annoying. And the Vivaldi has still no ability to export all settings!

I said that it is better to add features so that we don't need extensions.
This is what I see when I visit the Web Store:
The extensions list is well organised with the ability to enable/disable extensions. Broken Link Checker causes problems on a site where I am a moderator, so I keep it disabled until I need to use it elsewhere.

It works now! I can see the "Add" button now. It was really about to restart the Vivaldi browser. Thank you.

Anyway, the idea of implementation of extensions into Vivaldi is nice. But as i wrote: it must be systematic (there are tons of extensions/nice features), i.e. it must looks like the extension list. In other words: there will be the extension list, but made by Vivaldi.Another way is to start discussion with extension developers to create the new FREE platform (web store) where all FREE browsers like Vivaldi or Brave will benefit - this sounds to me much better idea and solution: to unite against more and more repulsive Google! United we are stronger!
Get rid of ALL Google dependencies ASAP!
-
@xtech Try
vivaldi://flags/#enable-force-dark
-
Yeah, "force dark" sounds nice, but this thread was about extensions;) So let's hope that extensions will find the way in Vivaldi to get rid of Google/Chrome soon!
-
@xtech I thought this thread was about getting free from extensions.

Yes, you are right. Sorry for this "under line" note. But this note is very close to the article i asked about here - to install extensions it deals with Google services. And as we all know, Google belongs to one of the most dangerous companies on the planet Earth. So to circumvent this company is the mission for all they mean it seriously.
