Rpm vs. deb

  • do rpm and deb packages have any differences? are they ever in different stages of development? exclusivity of features? download/upload speed? package sizr?

    That are different package formats.
RMP is more for OS like RedHat, CentOS, Suse.
DEB is more for OS like Ubuntu, Debian, Mint.

The features of Vivaldi for Linux browser are the same.

The debs and rpms are identical as far as Vivaldi version included go. There are some differences in the two ways of packaging software, but there are more similarities than differences. There may be mall differences in release times also, but we're talking hours, not days.

  • thanks, i was using winX and linux mint, but i'm playing with fedora and korora now. might there happen to be a backend difference in the way my package managers handle the versions? such as support for openvpn, p2p, TLS 1.2/AES256? (fedora/korora23-86_64 mint17.3-64).
