Ad blocker blocking podcasts, not blocking ads
-
Some recent update has made it impossible to log into some websites (ex., Player.fm) using Google accounts (and probably other methods as well). Even podcast sites that don't require log-ins often fail with an unspecified error after pressing the play button.
I've noticed both "accounts.google.com" and "player.fm" itself appearing in the "blocked ads" tooltip when hovering over the content blocker icon (there doesn't seem to be any way to see what is actually being blocked, it only shows the server name).
In Apple podcasts, "pdst.fm" and "google.com" get blocked (and the podcasts won't play), etc.. Basically, it seems every podcast source is blocked as an "ad".
All these issues seems to be caused by "EasyList" being selected under "Manage Sources" -> "Ad Blocking sources". Unchecking "EasyList" makes podcasts work fine again (but probably stops blocking any ads, as well).
I'm assuming this is a 3rd party list, not updated / managed by Vivaldi, but maybe it shouldn't be selected by default if it's just going to classify podcast audio sources as "ads".
Or maybe the list is fine and Vivaldi is somehow misinterpreting the data it's getting from it.
Also, some ads that used to be blocked until a few days ago are no longer being blocked (ex., the YouTube ad at the start of the suggestions list), even when EasyList is enabled.

@wildimpresario Hello and Welcome to the Vivaldi Community
impossible to log into some websites (ex., Player.fm) using Google accounts
Most likely because you've turned Cryto Token support off in Privacy > Google Extensions.
there doesn't seem to be any way to see what is actually being blocked, it only shows the server name
You can press F12 > Network tab, to see what is being blocked on a site.
Do you see blocked requests to the sites you mention?Try updating the EasyList by deselecting and selecting it again.
if it's just going to classify podcast audio sources as "ads".
Sometimes overly aggressive and too general rules manage to sneak their way into blocklists, but usually they are removed again fast.
The URL for the EasyList is: https://downloads.vivaldi.com/easylist/easylist-current.txt
You can search that (huge) file for the URLs being blocked. No mention ofplayer.fm
for instance. So it might be part of the URL.Have you gone through all the troubleshooting tips?
