I can't log into YouTube on Vivaldi -?
-
I'm not tech smart so please keep that in mind. Basically, I'm wondering whether it's just me or censorious Google. (If you think that that's not a problem, then just ignore me. Please.) I don't see where to turn javascript on and off on Vivaldi. I checked because part of the msg when trying to log in and can't includes mention of javascript. But I've never played around with it, so...

@ybra Click the padlock icon in the URL field to change site settings, and disable Javascript.

@pesala Thanks. Now I know where that is. However, It was on. As I said, I've never played around with it. Ironically, I only switched to Vivaldi because Google's war on independence and independents is hot and Pale Moon was in its sights. Increasingly, I was encountering 'this browser is not supported'. I had to do Google Meet for work and, as I had never done it before and didn't know what it should look like, I missed mulitiple sessions because the entire page, including the sign-in line, didn't load. Only after I tried doing Google Meet in different browsers, out of frustration, did I learn that. G4S, an abusive company, did not utter or write a word of technical requirements for us in order to have us join sessions without trouble. And, lo and behold, I'm now returning to Pale Moon just to view YouTube (which I really don't use for important stuff). I've been on Bitchute for just over two years. No censorship. Just my over 200 vids and reaching into 60,000 views. It's not perfect, but it's not evil like Google.

@ybra See the Google Extension options in Settings, Privacy.
Disabling some of them can break Google web sites.

@pesala In that case, it's a good bet that I did it to myself. I hate Google so much I disable as much Google as I can, guessing at whether I need it or not. It's not the best way to proceed, but it's what I must do when I've got no tech smart friends or family around to set me straight. It looks like I need to reset the permissions or whatever. Then experiment. Thanks for the tip.
-
Well, I reset the permissions. It was a no go.

@ybra I can log in OK to YouTube, but have only Cryptotoken and Webstore enabled in Google Extensions.
I am not able to log in to Google Maps.
-
@pesala I've got other browsers. I'll survive. At least, until they crash the internet the way they've essentially promised to do (Polygon, reported by Whitney Webb), so that they can force central bank digital currency on us. When the net crashes, I have a new computer with nothing on it but Linux, ready to go, since MS works with the WEF to carry out Klaus Schwab's Great Reset/Green New Deal. Will that help me any? I have no idea. Probably not. The model of car doesn't matter if there's no road.
-
@ybra , you can diseable all the Google services in Vivaldi, except the Crypto Tokens when you like to use YouTube or other Google Services and the Web Store, when you like to install some extensions. This the only two needed. After install an extension, you can diseable the last one again.

I had problems logging in to Booking.com using my Google account as well, a few hours ago.
Seems like maybe Google was having authentication issues? -
Okay. Thanks. I'll look into it.
