Important statement on the "right to Repair"
-
If this post is in the wrong sub-forum Mods please feel free to move it.
For those of us using older computers, most I know repair their own regardless of make (although many are made by sub-contractors and relabelled). Newer computer users have a worse problem.
OT This is similar to auto manufacturers wanting car owners only to use dealerships for repairs happening in some places.
Of late computer manufacturers have been making parts difficult to get and requiring users in some areas to send their computers to the manufacturer or to one of their representatives. (I know there is a chip shortage but this is a completely different issue.)An important statement was recently released from Apple's co-founder Steve Wozniak which can be found [here](https://www.macobserver.com/news/steve-wozniak-its-time-to-recognize-right-to-repair/).
It is important in this day where an internet connection and a computer/tablet is assumed by banks, governments and countless other institutions and businesses that users with the knowledge and ability have the right to repair devices they've bought with their hard earned money.
I have taken the time to learn enough to repair and clean my desktop, laptops and to a certain extent my tablets and have helped friends, relatives and co-workers to upgrade, repair or de-virus (is that a word?) their devices (they are friends, I did not expect to be paid).
I'd better stop now... . -
