Amazon "look inside"
-
How do I get Vivaldi to open the "look inside" feature on books at Amazon.com? I can't figure out what is blocking it.
-
@engel9 Can you provide a direct link to a site where it is supposed to work? Check with another browser first.
-
@engel9 Yeah, provide a book link to look inside, ideally without needing an account or signing in.

works for me with 4.0.2312.36 stable. i tested this: https://www.amazon.com/-/en/dp/1642939633/
@engel9 perhaps vivaldi ad/tracker filter cause the missing "look inside" link.
please check in guest window to test without any ad/tracker blocker and extensions.. -
@doctorg I don’t think it’s that simple. For me it works on a private window, but not on a guest window…

I tried around with settings and deleting caches but no easy way to say what is going wrong exactly when it goes wrong.
edit: deleting amazon cookies seems to have done the trick, but I wouldn’t bet on this working reliably, something seems to be amiss on amazon’s side of things.

You could pick any book at amazon.com, but try “Travels” (good book by the way) at https://www.amazon.com/Travels-Michael-Crichton-ebook/dp/B007UH4H6Y/ref=sr_1_1?dchild=1&keywords=travels&qid=1625520952&s=digital-text&sr=1-1
Click on the “look inside” above the book graphic. For me, the Brave and Microsoft Edge browsers WILL open the book quickly and easily! However, the Vivaldi and Chrome WILL NOT open the book. (Chrome on my laptop runs slow and sometimes won’t open, but that’s another story.) The browser I primarily use is Vivaldi and I’d like it to work well with amazon.com Kindle books. Thanks for any help you can provide.

@engel9 Try clearing site data for Amazon.
Either:
-
Go to Settings > Privacy > Cookies > Show saved cookies, filter on "amazon" and then Delete Filtered Cookies.
-
Press F12 on Amazon to open Devtools, Application Tab, Storage, Clear site data (+including third-party)
-
Use Ctrl+Shift+Del to delete browsing data, this will obviously delete all data from all sites which you might not want.
Many people are reporting this, and it's not just Vivaldi:

Amazon has changed something breaking Look Inside for people with cached site scripts. -
-
In fact, it's one of the most searched terms on the G apparently!

THANK YOU everyone. I’ve tried everything and it just doesn’t work. Apparently it is on Amazon’s end. They must be aware of it. I assume it will be back to normal eventually. (It has worked in Vivald, not recently, but in the past.)
-
@engel9 It works for me in latest snapshot - even with all blocking enabled.
