Option "None" for saving History settings
-
Hello there, i miss one really important option in Vivaldi, and it is and an option "None" for settings section for saving history.
There are options like "Last day", "Las week", "Last month" or "Everything", so why not "None"?
At these days of permanently attacked cyber security it is sort of important option.
Thank you.

@xtech Settings > Privacy > Save browsing history.
-
Yeah, that's it. There should the option "None".
-
@xtech Session = None. History will be erased when closing browser.
Do you really want to not be able to go back to previous page when browsing?Use a Private Window if you need absolute privacy.
-
I do not know how it works in Vivaldi, but in FF i have set up with absolutely none history (even during the session) in Normal type window (not just in Private one), and i can still browse on pages back and forward of course. When i make Ctrl+H (History), i can see nothing there, even during the session, no history at all - and that's what i am asking for Vivaldi.
-
@Pathduck There is a bug in Vivaldi Snapshot, when this setting is on Session Only, it is not erasing the history when the browser is exited: VB-77486.
-
@edwardp Well, guess they'll have to fix that one first then
-
Another problem with not saving history: cache should be erased, but there is no session only cache function. And recently closed tabs must also be erased.
@xtech Maybe it is just better to have the option to always use private window?
-
Yeah, i use the Private window. And i use both Private and Normal window simultaneously. So i really suggest the clean solution - make 'No history' option working in Vivaldi same way it works in FF (without any extensions etc.). It will be really nice to get rid off the History once forever and enjoy full privacy;)

But your approximate history can be derived from:
Recently closed tabs
Backed up sessions
Cache storage
Cookies
Maybe OS keep network logs?
If you are a data collector, then fingerprinting and other workaround methodsI still support the feature request, but you have to consider what you are protecting against.

Yes, i know that you can be intercepted from various sources. But why make easier to them? This option is simply a must, in my point of view. The times has changed a lot.

So true. I don't use history panel & page at all. I only use the closed tabs feature (I like WP so much).

Firefox has this setting, why not Vivaldi?

It has this:
But in Snapshot, this particular setting doesn't work. It's previously been reported as a bug.

I agree there should be an option to not save history as with Firefox.
