@gwen dragon has left the Vivaldi forum That really a big loss
But her website and blog are still there: https://labs.gwendragon.de/blog/ You can also reach her via email through this, but I didn't do that,
-
@stardepp I know, it’s very sad, and I can’t see her old posts either.
-
Massive loss!! -
I hope and pray she's ok.
-
@Gwen-Dragon back to the forum, please.
-
Quite right, this is a great loss to the Forum, she has been a great help to myself and others.
I do hope all is well with her. -
For me it is very sad news, but I understand that circumstances force us many times to change our lives.
I hope that her decision to leave the forum has good and positive reasons for her.Thank you Lilo

GwenDragon is fine. She does not plan, at present, to return to the Forums. That's a loss for us, as she was the most productive and respected Moderator.
She retains a connection and role with Vivaldi, but not here.
She is not suffering problems or a disability, but the forums do not serve her best interest at present.
SO - it's up to those of us who remain here to help ourselves and each other in her place. I sincerely hope for the vacuum she leaves to be filled by others of competence and good will.

@stardepp thank you for the link. She wrote an article about it. It is written in German.
I'm very sorry that hateful and aggressive people still have that power and hope this will have an end very soon. -
bad news.
-
@wildente In the German thread you had another post with a link to something. Would you put that here too?
-
@guigirl I get your feelings. They are not necessarily apropos to GwenDragon's current choice to be absent from here.
-
I like Dragons, whatever color they may have. May thunder rule the board again.
-
If only for these haters and stalkers in the forum, who only know the nickname and little else, they would be kicked out and in peace. But the problem is that for GD it can become a real danger, since in her blog she appears with her full name and address, which is naturally also visible to these @##卐※ΞΞ# and the virtual harassment for this, can become a harassment real.

@guigirl said in @gwen dragon has left the Vivaldi forum :
Some of us have battled here for years against the occasional hateful members [some are blessedly only temporary, but to my disgust some stay here still, instead of being removed by Admin] who delight in posting misogynistic &/or anti-LGBTQI remarks that of course are deeply offensive to people of those cohorts.
That hasn't been my experience. I can't recall a single post, where anyone said anything negative about women or gay people.
-
@eggcorn , I,ve seen some in the past, but what not can be seen is the posts in PM and Chat. It is there where apparently she has received harassment.
-
@catweazle We (users) have the advantage that we can just "report" such posts.
However, if a mod then takes action on the report - they can then become a target! As that targeting MAY be outside the forum, it is hard to know how to avoid the perpetrators!?
Note: I have NO knowledge of the reasons for GD's decision; so don't read more into my thoughts than is here.
I just wish her well

This is the link I shared https://ncase.me/trust/
Takes about 20 minutes to go through that interactive game which will teach you some game theory (the science of human interaction) and show that the winning approach to deal with others in repeated interactions is the respectful kind one If there is a sufficient amount of trust.
It is up to us regulars of the community to create that environment. In my opinion this means that the normal tonality should be friendly, humorous and indeed also ironic. And when it becomes apparent that another is hurt or irritated by what I say, the reaction should be to reflect and - even in case I don't really understand how my words could have led to irritation - appreciate the other person has other needs, experiences and feelings than I do, and so I should edit my post to become a notch more respectful and clarify that the aim was not to hurt.
That is not cancel culture. That is respect, responsible, mature and, by the way, often doesn't take much (like, replacing a "absolutely clear to me, you must" with a "I really think you should".
At the same ttime, I want to be allowed to not have to weigh every word I write here, and be welcomed to voice opinions, and sprinkle in some irony. That is the trust that I and everyone else should get initially: maybe I chose my words poorly, but then maybe call me out for my choice of words only. Don't immediately assume my intent was to be disrespectful.

@tbgbe, the resons you can read in her blog, it's in german, but you can use the translator. She is fine and I also wish that she continues to be.
@WildEnte , it can be brought together in mutual respect. The vast majority behave according to these principles, but unfortunately there are among many millions of users on the internet, by pure statistics, also caveicles and undesirables that appear from time to time in the forums. This is inevitable. As I said before, if they behave like assh...s, they are kicked out, but they also show why it is important to be discreet with personal data on the network, why if not, someday you have them in front of your door..
