Email Display Issue Continued
-
..... so for various reasons I get a lot of email but I can't read half of it because of an on-going display issues.
Sometimes the document pane is all black or all white or grey-on-grey or some other useless color combination, which makes reading the message content a joke (except for links)
Is there an overriding reason for this? For a user like me it's quite frustrating. I mean what's the point of developing a wonderful email client if you can't read the emails? I would think it would become a priority of many priorities. [Not meant as a snark]
Note from the last snapshot: Mail] Cannot see body of message when too many recipients in composer VB-80388
Much of my email comes from a blast. I don't know how many recipients are on the list but I'm sure it's a loooooong list. Could that be it?
Is there anything I can do as a user to ameliorate the situation.?
Thank you.

@janrif is this all black/white/grey on grey the same issue as you described here? https://forum.vivaldi.net/topic/62433/email-white-window/4

Yes please describe the issues you see such that it's easy for us to create hypotheses what's going on. Most of the time, screenshots help narrowing down the problem - your description 'document pane is all black or all white' is clear, but at the same time, it's not allowing us to try and reproduce the problem. Hunting bugs is a lot of back and forth and trying things.
There was another thread recently about an email that didn't show correclty where @Gwen-Dragon found that the problem was caused by the theme. This finding was possible because the screenshot allowed us to look beyond the factually correct description that the text didn't show.

@janrif There is a fix for html mail that specify font color and not background in the next snapshot and next minor on stable after that. (I'm guessing this is the issue)
That will make all html emails white by default and not follow the theme font colors for links and text. (themes will still work for plaintext emails)
We'd like to add some options like checking for css color changes and only apply themes when no colors are specified (therefore keeping the themes as much as possible). Also making a simple html parser to strip away extra css and elements (and also could help with reply as plaintext and such)

@janrif
Hi, do you use the default theme?Cheers, mib

@gmg Thanks for your update. I'm not sure that the font color fix is going to do it but the next two fixes should cure the problem one way or another.
I know this problem is a bit tricky to solve b/c users have so many HTML options & not all are handled the same way. I look forward to these fixes & I will be sure to update this thread after testing. Again, thank you very much.
[BTW, single day calendar ToDo item is still carried over to next day. Grrrr]

Hi, do you use the default theme?@mib2berlin Thanks for your interest. No. I use an edited version of the PRIVATE theme; mostly black instead of blues. Happy to send settings along if you're interested.

@WildEnte The next time this problem pops up (probably tomorrow) I will post a screenshot to this thread. The link illustrating the white page that you referred me to is definitely a sample of what I've been describing but I will illustrate.

@mib2berlin So maybe it's a problem at my end? Which theme did you use when you first started to use M3 & what did you change to? I can test over the wknd to see if that makes a difference.

@janrif
I had a own also very dark theme and after switching to the default theme all mails was clear to read.
I changed my foreground color to light grey now.
You can easy check with the default theme.
Do you allow external content from known mails?Cheers, mib

Same result here, especially on all light colored themes; not dark ones

@gmg This problem seems to disappear if I select a Vivaldi theme (no edits) especially the light themes. Hope this gives a clue.

@janrif
Yes, can you post your theme color settings, please?
I guess you have to change your foreground color.Cheers, mib

My theme started with Vivaldi's "Private"
My edited version has the following settings:Background: 000000
Foreground: e0e0ef
Highlight: fdd05f
Accent: fdd05f -
