Password in the clear on ubuntu
On Ubuntu after install and sync, passwords are displayed in the clear and are no prompt for a password as in Windows. This is a clear security risk
Any tips on how to fix this?
@cgb1960 The Login database of Vivaldi is controlled by your OS keyring software.
After you are logged in the database is unlocked and that's why you can see the login passwords in Vivaldi Settings → Privacy.

@gwen-dragon This does not sound very secure and certainly I don't like it. There is a big difference between the software allowing someone who comes upon my unlocked desktop being able to go to a web site and log in as me, and them being able to see all my passwords and export them. Again a pretty big security risk.
Almost every single system I have ever seen wants to see your old password before it will let you give a new password in order make sure its you.
Vivaldi should be doing this as well.
@cgb1960 If you need secure login database with Vivaldi and others, use KeepassXC or similar program with a keyphrase and SecurityKey.
Chromium core and thus Vivaldi does protect with a extra password to view login passwords. That is a fault of Chromium devs.
@gwen-dragon Thanks for those links Gwen.
