How to restore Bookmarks from trash?
-
Not sure how this happened, maybe a macro or something, but all of my bookmarks wound up in Vivaldi's trash. Trying to find a way to restore them w/o any luck. It was also not letting me create any new folders outside of the trash. Any suggestions? (i had made an update to this post, but it seems not to have taken) (UPDATE) I wound up having to import and older collection from Chrome - then was able to recreate the folder structure via drag-drop.

Using most recent snapshot as of this date.
Just drag them out.

Weird - I had made an update to this thread, after creating it, but it didn't take
I had tried that at first, dragging, but it was not allowing me to do so as there were no other folders in the tree. I had tried to create a new folder, to rebuild upon, but the folder would not take. As said in my update, I wound up having to import bookmarks in order to a folder to take in the tree outside of the trash. I hope I don't sound like a moron, but dragging was the first thing I had tried - trust me

Oh, yeah. Creating new folders is broken in this and the prior snapshot. It's supposedly fixed internally in the next build.
You have accidentally duplicated this thread. It's here twice. Here is your update from the other copy of the topic:
_"Not sure how this happened, maybe a macro or something, but all of my bookmarks wound up in Vivaldi's trash. Trying to find a way to restore them w/o any luck.
Have also discovered that I am unable to create any new folders. I attempted to make one so I could dump my collection into and and resort from there, but no dice.
Any suggestions?

[UPDATE] I went ahead and re-imported my bookmarks from Chrome, allowing me to clear out that collection while retaining a folder, and just resorted everything. Fun fun"_

Gotcha. Any idea how everything got dumped? I was not using the bookmark manager. I believe, at the time, I was editing a lengthy post in Facebook when I noticed it. Lots of typing - that's what made me think of a macro that might have been the culprit, although am not seeing a "delete all of my bookmarks" macro in the list

No idea. It's never happened to me. It happened to a few users literally about 30 builds ago and earlier. Have seen nothing similar since the first Beta. XMarks extension also did something similar to me once, but I just uploaded a clean set of bookmarks to XMarks and re-set the service, to fix it.
Offhand, I can't imagine what could accomplish this.

Same thing happened to me. Suddenly all the bookmarks in the trash and i couldn't drag them out.
Fix:
Add new bookmark to the root and now vivaldi will allow you to drag the bookmarks from the trash. Drag them between the trash folder itself and the new bookmark -

Making new folders may be borked ATM, but you can always add a bookmark. And the moment you do, there is space in the root outside of the trash folder.

Does the New folder button in Speed dial still work? Mine does …
-
Mebbe so. Haven't tested it.
-
OK, so - yeah. I tested new folder in Speed dial, and it can be created. It does not appear in speed dial by default - you have to move it to speed dial using the bookmark panel or bookmark manager. It cannot be be renamed outside of speed dial, but it CAN be renamed within the speed dial interface after you drag it in to speed dial.
So- kind of a mixed bag.
Edit: Now that version 1.0.403.15 is out, this comment may no longer apply.

Looks like New folder works, at least in the panel, and editing works on folders, so we should be fine.
