why does scrolling on windows suck?
-
@schreck Have you ever tried Linux?

@schreck Look this post and forget the problem of scrolling in Windows:

@schreck What is your Windows settings for scroll speed?
Mine is set to 3, but if I increase it to 20 then scrolling is very jerky. Fastscroll using the MMB is not affected by this setting.
-
@code3 Heh. My scrolling in Linux is much worse than in Windows.
-
@ayespy , In Windows I use Mouse Accelerator, not updated since years, but works fine in Windows 10 64. I think thera are something similar for Linux-
-
@catweazle Sure, but why? I don't care to waste processor cycles and RAM on drawing a pixel-by-pixel transition just so scrolling can seem "smoother." If I can get to and stop on whichever line I want, then I'm good.
-
@ayespy Hmm, my Linux scrolling seems fine.
I was also asking because, you can't claim that it's because of Windows if you only use Windows.
-
@code3 Maybe there's some DE setting that might produce a smoother action, but the prehistoric onboard graphics on that box can't do hardware acceleration, and I don't want to tax the CPU to do anything it doesn't absolutely have to.
-
@ayespy , It don't work in a Wordprocessor or Textpad, there it switched to normal line to line scroll. But normally I had it desactivated, because I need it only ocassionally, I don't do much offline and the scroll for normal use is smooth enough for me.
