Fifth browser - Yet another Opera-12 replacement (linux-only) (very promised)
-
Download the binary and source codes from here: http://sourceforge.net/projects/fifth-browser/files/v0.1.1/ Git: https://github.com/clbr/fifth Homepage: http://fifth-browser.sourceforge.net/ Screenshot: http://fifth-browser.sourceforge.net/screenshots.html Reviews: http://www.linuxlinks.com/article/20141127141517421/NewWebBrowsers.html http://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?page=news_item&px=MTg0MDk The browser was introduced on 2014/11/15, and have just 2 releases but more features than 2-years old Opera-Chromimum. Here are some first impressions: * Very fast * JS/CSS/cookies are fully controllable * Customizable * per-site settings * Fast back/forward * Trash/Undo closed tabs (very similar to Opera-presto, no reload pages) * User Interface

Looks like an interesting browser indeed. If I could only get it installed to try it.
-
I downloaded the binary package and run without problem (Mageia distro).
I only need to download lib64cairo2-1.14.0 from OpenMandriva (when the binary Fifth require libcairo >= 1.12.18).
Extract the lib64cairo2-1.14.0 (not install)$ export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=[where *.so files was extracted] $ fifth

I think it was WebkitFLTK which refused to build for me. I have Manjaro.
-
Maybe you can use the following PKGBUILD to compile Webkitfltk:
https://github.com/KaOS-Community-Packages/webkitfltk/blob/master/PKGBUILD
(Works on KaOS, no idea, for Manjaro)For fifth, it's here: https://github.com/KaOS-Community-Packages/fifth

Right, it's webkitfltk which does not build for me. I tried KaOS PKBUILD and I tried also the source from nother place. I have tried enough. I hope someone will prepare a more convenient package and I will get to run the browser.
The other dependencies build just fine for me.

Now I managed to build WebkitFLTK and I installed Fifth. Looks promising indeed. I will blog about it
