@boroda74 is this setting correct to enable saving private sessions?
Sory for asking, but there's no explanation what can be changed and where are the settings.id: "LONM_SESSION_SAVE_PRIVATE_WINDOWS", type: Boolean, default: true,
Yes, but it's only initial default value. This setting won't take any effect if you have used mod at least once. Open V settings (1st section of settings) to change this setting:

Update on my previous comment.
Tinkered with js a bit (using Advanced Panels code) and this change partially fixes it:
Changed this:vivaldi.sessionsPrivate.open( session, {openInNewWindow: newWindow} );
To this:
vivaldi.sessionsPrivate.open( vivaldiWindowId, session, {openInNewWindow: newWindow} );
With this change "Open in new window" works properly. "Open in this window" still doesn't work properly, but it seems to be the Vivaldi bug. Because the "Open in this window" doesn't work properly even in in-built session manager.

For some reason sessions don't open when I try to open them from the sidebar. When I click the button, nothing happens.
I can't open sessions neither in the current window nor in new window, neither one session nor multiple at once.
I use the latest version from Github
It seems that Vivaldi API has been changed between 4.0 and 4.3 Vivaldi versions. I've fixed this issue, but haven't intensively tested the fixed mod yet. Redownload new mod version either from GitHub or from mediafire.com.

Sessions Panel mod: I've fixed date representation in sessions name for US/UK date format (now 10.05.2021 will be 10/05/2021 if you are using imperial system). Redownload mod from 1st post links.

But what if I don't want to use Sessions Panel mod?

Sessions Panel mod don't have any settings at all. I wrote about Autosave Sessions mod. Install only it and open Vivaldi settings, then look at the top of 1st section of Vivaldi settings: see my post with screenshot above, header "AUTOSAVE SESSIONS MOD" and mod settings below the header.
-
@boroda74 Hmm, I don't have and never had these settings in Vivaldi settings. I installed autosave-sessions.js using VivaldiModManager and it worked (partly) without settings in the Vivaldi window. I don't know what do I do wrong. The file is "installed" in \Program Files\Vivaldi\Application.vivaldimods\4.4.2493.3\js\autosave-sessions.js

Vivaldi 4.4.2493.3? Latest stable Vivaldi version, which I can see, is 4.3.2439.65 (Stable channel) (64 bits). Maybe something has been changed in 4.4.
Try to open Vivaldi settings by clicking "gear" button on the left side panel (as shown on screenshot above) instead of by using main menu or hotkey.

@gregor
Also, I've recalled that mod settings will appear only if you set up Vivaldi to show settings in tab (not in a separate window). -

Also, I've recalled that mod settings will appear only if you set up Vivaldi to show settings in tab (not in a separate window).Ok, now I see these settings.
But, as I mentioned, saving private doesn't work. When I open session with double exclamation marks (in new window or in the current one) it opens only normal window and duplicates pinned tabs. -
@gregor
It's limitation of Vivaldi API. The workaround is to manually open a new private Vivaldi window and open a private session inside this window. But somebody had written that opening session in current window (either private or not) doesn't work in the latest Vivaldi version. But you could try to do this. -

Session with double exclamation marks opens in new private window, but only normal, without private window. Now I use the latest snapshot 4.4.2493.3, but that's been the case for at least a few snapshots.

@gregor
This is what I see in Vivaldi 4.3.2439.65: if I open saved PRIVATE SESSION from NOT PRIVATE WINDOW, then session will be opened in new (and NEVER in current) NOT PRIVATE WINDOW. If I open saved PRIVATE SESSION from PRIVATE WINDOW, then session will be opened in new (and NEVER in current) PRIVATE WINDOW. -
In 5.1.2512.3 opening private sessions works ([Tabs] Can’t save tabs as sessions from private windows (VB-84007)), but still:
- when it's saved with normal window, it opens also with normal window (I'd like to open only priv window)
- priv window opens not maximized (if it was maximized)
- pinned tabs in normal window (if existed) are duplicated

What's is this??
-
@ssg-agp I would assume it’s nothing. Windows just doesn’t like unknown exe files downloaded from the internet. But no one forces you to use the script, you can write your own batch script patching the Vivaldi installation, see ☛ https://forum.vivaldi.net/post/10592

@luetage Ok, thanks. I will see
