Hd videos on youtube
-
Hi,installed vivaldi recently and i like it a lot,but the major problem i have is hd videos on youtube. Why vivaldi can't handle 1080p videos?Even 720p videos sometimes stutter, drop major frames and pause to load. The same 1080p videos play perfectly fine on edge and internet explorer.I had the same problem with the latest opera and that was the reason i uninstalled it. I have tried H264 Youtube Codec and h264ify extensions but there is no difference.I also tried YouTube Flash-HTML5 extension to play the videos in flash, but it doesn't always work.A lot of times it just loads the html5 player instead. So whats the deal?Is this an architecture problem, the same one that opera has?It seems to me strange that a modern browser has problems with 1080p in 2016,even the widely ridiculed internet explorer can play 1440p video on my machine. Are there any workarounds with some extension or something? This is the main reason that stops me from using Vivaldi full time, even thought i really like it.This and the inability to have custom thumbnails for the speed dial tiles. The site's screenshot isn't cutting it in 2016..

It depends. Not all the videos are available in h264 on YT, some of them are available only in VP9, possibly your machine is not powerful enough to play the latter

It works perfectly here (if the video is available in h264), check the statistics for nerds on the yt video to understand what's going on.

Personally I hate the metroish, useless, "dumbnails", No matter if they are trendy or not the true thumbnails are way more useful.
Anyway the improvements on SD will come surely after the V1 release, in the meantime you can customize your ones right now with little effort (see the sticky tips and tricks thread), or use an alternate speed dial, like FVD or the metro speed dial. -
