Same phone number for multiple accounts
-
One of the requirements that I have from my browser is to have two profiles. One for work and one for my personal usage. Sync is a must for both, as I need to be able to pick up my bookmarks/extensions from my desktop and my laptop. Therefore, I created two separate accounts in vivaldi.net, one for each. The issue I'm facing is that I cannot reuse my phone number for the second one.

Phone number verification is only required for Vivaldi Webmail and blogging platform use. Sync and the Forum can be used by just activating the account via a code sent to the recovery email.

@jane-n Hello. I am attempting to move all of my Gmail accounts to Vivaldi because of Mail's continuing problem with duplicate emails from Gmail. As such, how do I create multiple accounts with only one number? Thank you.
-
@finance22 You can’t.
-
A Vivaldi mail account needs to be associated with a mobile number in order to use that account in Webmail or Vivaldi Mail. Apparently, I can have only as many Vivaldi email accounts as I have mobile lines.
Here are a few reasons why I would like to have more than a single Vivaldi account:- Due to Mail's continuing problem with duplicating incoming email from Gmail, I would like to replace my Gmail accounts with Vivaldi accounts.
- What happens when I need to replace my one Vivaldi account - eg, spam infiltration? When I have this need with all other email services, I create the replacement account, notify my various contacts, confirm over a reasonable period that I haven't missed a contact with this change, and then delete the compromised account. This doesn't seem possible with Vivaldi.
Thank you for your consideration!

No problem, I have the primary account (email & browser) and then I have a secondary account to test profiles and settings, apart from using the email address to use it in unreliable services or with a high probability of being spammed.
On the second question, just export your contacts, create a new account, import contacts, delete compromised account and will done.
IF also you have your browser settings would be more tricky, but I think that could be in reach.
So, exactly ¿what do you think is the trouble?
-
- I am unable to create four additional Vivaldi accounts to replace my four Gmail accounts because I need to associate each Vivaldi account with a unique mobile number.
- I am unable to create a replacement Vivaldi account - should my original account need to be replaced due to spam - without first deleting the original account in order to free up my mobile number for pairing with the replacement Vivaldi account.

@finance22
Hi, I support your request but I create a third account 3 weeks ago and dont needed a mobile number.
I need a different account to use the sync feature for a test install.
As I created the sync account Vivaldi dont ask for a mobile number and I got a mail account, too.
You can test this with a Vivaldi standalone install.https://help.vivaldi.com/desktop/install-update/standalone-version-of-vivaldi/
Cheers, mib

Indeed. A mobile number in only required to use Webmail or create a blog. I assumed you already knew it.

@Obiwan2208 you wrote, "A mobile number in only required to use Webmail or create a blog. I assumed you already knew it." I do, which is why my opening post says, "A Vivaldi mail account needs to be associated with a mobile number in order to use that account in Webmail or Vivaldi Mail." I need to add additional accounts in Vivaldi (desktop) Mail.

@finance22
Hi again, you can add as many accounts you want without a associated mobile number
You can use it with the integrated email client but not with webmail.
Please read my post again, I only found this out by accident as I create a sync account.Cheers, mib

@mib2berlin Thank you for chiming in. You created that third account for a purpose that is foreign to me. I create email accounts in order to add them into Vivaldi (desktop) Mail. Without unique mobile numbers for each account, I am unable to access them in Mail (or even Webmail, apparently). This is the Mail message when I haven't made the mobile number association in my Vivaldi profile:

@finance22
OK, open vivaldi://settings/sync/Hit "Create an Account"
Add username and a verification mail address.
You can only use one verification mail address for one account.
I use the first Vivaldi mail address for my second account and the second mail address for my third account and so forth.After verify your email you can log in to Vivaldi sync.
You need a 12 digit encryption password for sync, you can use the same for all sync accounts or what you like.The email address should be available before you start sync but i don´t test this.
Anyway, you can disable sync if you don`t need it.More information about sync: https://help.vivaldi.com/desktop/tools/sync/
Cheers, mib

@mib2berlin Oh, I think I understand you now! I had not known of the standalone Vivaldi Mail. I recently moved from Thunderbird
(standalone)and Opera to Vivaldi, and loved the integration of email and browser. I will modify my original request to have the integrated desktop Mail allow for adding accounts without unique mobile numbers. Now, I have to decide if I revert to a standalone email client. Thank you for illuminating me, mib2berlin! -
@finance22 Actually, Vivaldi standalone is not a standalone install for Mail. It's a standalone install of Vivaldi, which one can then decide to/not to include the desktop Mail.
So, I'm back to the original problem of Vivaldi Mail and Webmail access needing unique mobile numbers for each account. -
I am testing again, please wait a bit

@finance22
I try to create a new account with my method and it does not work.
I am very sorry but I am was sure it was working last time I do this.
So we can only wait until Vivaldi implement a solution for this common problem.Cheers, mib

@finance22 Unfortunately, as Vivaldi.net mail accounts are totally free, and as spammers like to create multiples of them to spam the world (which has caused multiple providers, including Microsoft to block all emails coming from a Vivaldi.net account), the most effective strategy Vivaldi has come up with to prevent spammers from creating multiple Vivaldi email accounts is to require a unique phone number for each one. If they think of something better that lets the ethical people in while keeping the criminals out, I'm sure they will do that.
-
@mib2berlin I appreciate your participation and work, though. Thank you!
-
@Ayespy, thank you for confirming this. I understand the dilemma.
