Solved 3.9.2289.3 Snapshot does not start.
-
After updating to 3.9 Vivaldi snapshot does not start on Linux mint. Immediately after opening the window it closes again.
Also reinstallation with fresh program files does not change anything.
I did not delete the profile folder yet. Because it is too tedious to reconfigure everything every time.Edit:// Same happened with Windows 10.
@admin: please move from Linux-related upward to general desktop issue.

In the new snapshot this issue is solved.
-
@dancer18 Well, worked fine for me
Did you test with a fresh/blank profile(just rename existing profile folder to test)? -
@TbGbe That is working fine. But I don't want to delete my settings.
I will remove the custom.css from the old profile and check if that is the culprit.Edit:// No, custom.css isn't the culprit.
So that is boring to have to make a new profile from scratch when updating the browser.
That didn't happen before. -
I was having the same issue with the 3.8 stable 32bit linux,It is a total non-starter,nothing nada.
Maybe 32bit linux version is being dropped.?what is curious is that 32bit chromium runs just fine so my conclusion is that the issue is with vivaldi itself.

@dancer18
You should have reported it directly in the Snapshot thread for more visibility as long it concerns both Windows & LinuxSorry, no, as long it's working fine with a clean profile.P.S. Are you sure you have completely disabled css? Rename the folder to something else temporarily, don't just uncheck the entry in experiments.
P.S.2. Also it would be wise for you to stick with Stable and use Snapshot with a cloned profile for testing and early alert purposes only.

@dancer18 Did you do
vivaldi-snapshot —disable-extensions
This fixes it for me. Of course it is not a great solution.

It's a good "starting point", now you know that you have an extension to remove. You "just" have to determine which extension(s)!
-
@npro I moved the whole folder with that css to desktop to check it.
-
@tbgbe How can I remove an extension when Vivaldi won’t start? I’m not being sarcastic, I actually want to know.
-

You cant.
That’s not true, I think. What solution do you suggest?
-
@gwen-dragon Thanks, but Linux, not windows. I will try to find the extensions directory on Linux.

@gwen-dragon Thank you.
I removed all extension-folders from my profile-folder but the crash still happens.
What else can cause it when not extensions or custom.css? -

You cant.
Actually you can do it in reverse, disabling all extensions and allow exceptions with the
--disable-extensions-except
switch. -
@gwen-dragon Just looked that up
-
@gwen-dragon Nobody asked

That was the kind of thing I wanted to know before creating a new profile. Oh well.
