[Edit: Fixed] URL trailing slash removal bug

 • Type pasting http://www.mirrorservice.org/sites/ftp.ibiblio.org/pub/docs/books/gutenberg/ into your address bar and hiting return. Note that the address bar shortens the URL to display it without the final slash. That's not a server 30x redirection; the server replied with 200 OK. it's Vivaldi trying to make the URl look neater. It's also, AFAIK, wrong. It's not normally done, but depending on how a sever is set up, http://example.com/1/ and http://example.com/1 can actually refer to different content. See this official Google blog post:
"From a technical, search engine standpoint, it’s certainly permissible for these two URL versions to contain different content. Your users, however, may find this configuration horribly confusing -- just imagine if www.google.com/webmasters and www.google.com/webmasters/ produced two separate experiences."
and internet standard IETF RFC 3986, which says:
"Aside from dot-segments in hierarchical paths, a path segment is considered opaque by the generic syntax."
Worse, now that you're on that page, try to add (by typing with manual keyboard entry) "/2" to the end of the address, to make it "http://www.mirrorservice.org/sites/ftp.ibiblio.org/pub/docs/books/gutenberg/2". You can't. Vivaldi keeps deleting the slash, every time you hit the / key. Tested so far on Vivaldi 1.0.390.3 for OS X, but this probably applies to the other OS versions too. • That's already fixed internally. Just wait for the next snapshot ;)

 • Thanks =)
