Button for Speed dial?

  • Hello *, I'm a new user and I'm testing the latest Vivaldi snapshot. Is there any way to create a button near the Home one that shows the Speed Dial when pressed? TIA

  • Use this as homepage

    chrome://dummystartpage

then your home button will open the SD.

    Beautiful workaround! :)

    Your'e welcome! ;)

  • Awesome, never knew that, I was using stupid workaround with html files.

    Thank you.

Vivaldi please fix this issue now, its been a long time and everyone wants home button to go to speed dial.

  • What I feel is actually needed is for the homepage button action to have a settings option for what it will perform. Any number of possible choices exist, in principle: navigate to an HTML file or webpage of the user's choice; navigate to the browser speed dial; open a history or bookmarks panel; go to a blank screen or background theme; etc. There are many things different users might want to frequently do as a kind of reference point during their browsing sessions, using something roughly defined as a "home" button.

  • Following this discussion I posted a formal request about leaving the home button as is, only if homepage or multiple homepage are chosen as startup options.

According to my proposal, If the last session or the start pages are chosen, the home button should be replaced by a grid shaped one that would point to the start page.

The concept could be further elaborated, but I choose to ask for the simpler mod, as I think would be a first step on the right direction, (hopefully) w/o much work.

  • Really nice thanks :)
