Its a pity translate is being relegated to experiments for now, a lot of good progress has been made on it. Hopefully it will be promoted in a later version.
-
Yeah we got a long way with it but it needs a bit more. Petter and our sysadmins have done a lot of great work. However, It will be even better in 3.9.
That said, if someone wants to play with it in stable, they can flip this flag. Like with mail/cal/rss the best experience will be snapshots are the way to go because this is where all the new fixes for this will come first.

Yooop!
(just want my medal, nothing else ) -
Since this is an RC, I'm going to condense my requests for the "Bookmark Added" dialog.
Please consider:
-
Give us a choice to auto save bookmarks or not
-
Stop auto saving text from the page as a Description, it unnecessarily bloats the
Bookmark.file
and doesn't describe anything -
Always use the highlight colour on selected folders because they do not show up on darker themes when not focused (which is the default view).
-
Folder state is not remembered (that really should be considered a bug)
-
Bring back the icons for Bookmark and Speed Dial tabs rather than have those generic folder icons with text, It looks cluttered now. The previous icons removed the need for text. It's also inconsistent with the side panel
-
Folder navigation tree list is still too small
Thanks

@Ornorm Since you got no medal so far here's something

+1 on that alone, I find it an annoyance. Make it selectable, enabled by default but one can uncheck it, and everyone is happy.

I had no notification on this update being available, while my setting is enabled. I had closed and reopened Vivaldi 5 times, nothing happened, then I have unckecked the Notify about updates, closed, reopened, rechecked it again, then a notification appeared. Quite some work to make appear a notification that should avoid me to manually press Alt-H/U each time to check if there's an update... If you ask me it's as useful as it wasn't there at all, and it's in this state since months, I pratically never have a notification when the update is actually there

Sorry , What RC means ??

@Ruarí can you tell for Windows users if we can use both autoupdater for stable (Install for All) and Snapshot (Standalone) now?
When I first started testing this then each Standalone installation would also create its own task in Task Scheduler like
VivaldiUpdateCheck-db98822003e3e725
with a trigger once a day, when "Check for updates" was enabled. It doesn't seem to do that now for some reason, I just have the one task for my default All Users install.
It also does not work when triggered because it stupidly seems to check the value of
DestinationFolder
in the registry keyComputer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Vivaldi
and assumes Vivaldi is installed there. And this value is changed every time a standalone is installed so it will fail.I suspect this auto-update feature is not fully fleshed out yet and it will end badly for a lot of users. For me I do all updates manually anyway so it doesn't matter much.

@kimoo There can be several RCs, but generally it means that the Stable is near.
-
i would hazard a guess next monday could be stable day.

Hello, I am using dynamic wallpaper where my desktop image changes periodically (W10 64). With version 3.7 when I open a new tab with SpeedDial, Vivaldi background changes like my desktop. With version 3.8 Vivaldi background is always the one when I open Vivaldi.
-
Yes, yesss, Vivaldi is running into this issue!
(Kinda sad that now I have no use for the solution if they solve it.)
-
Hello There. Nice to see RC
First regression found: Update-Dialogue is not translated.
