Well, you know. Got to keep busy.
P.S. The snapshot by nature of being Chromium 90 based and up to date, already has this fix.

Great, a nice surprise in the afternoon.
(I looked good in this picture.)

@Ruarí the file
/opt/vivaldi/lib/libffmpeg.so
is empty invivaldi-stable_3.7.2218.58-1_amd64.deb
.
Vivaldi as a result fails to start with builtin codec support only.
Borrowing the file from3.7.2218.55-1_amd64
works for me.ARM64 and i386 packages seem to be fine (or at least do not have a null-sized library).
Should be fixed before pushing the new versions to

@Stardust Not at all! It's the famous cerberus which defends the door that protects an issue that was under active attack.

@becm: Can confirm: /opt/vivaldi/lib/libffmpeg.so is an empty file.
Vivaldi Stable on Ubuntu.

@becm Hmm... this is very odd. Indeed you are correct. All the other archs are fine, as they were last time and as are recent snapshots.
What is especially interesting is that the rpm package is also fine. That is odd as our rpms and debs contain the same binaries. We build once and package 4 times for x64 on Linux (2 rpms and 2 debs). The extra packages are in snapshot configuration/layout. Why just one of these packages has ended up with a zero byte file is quite a mystery.
Now as for testing before release, if you install the debs in the normal way the update-ffmpeg script would get called in post install and fetch the alternative libffmpeg, thus preventing failure on startup and hide the problem, which I guess is what happened.
In the mean time I will just try a rebuild with the same version number and see if it fails again. If it does not I will replace the build and clear the cache, so that new users get a correct package. Most of those who already downloaded or upgraded will likely be ok anyway because (as mentioned before) a normal install would hide the issue.
Anyway, nice catch!

When I check update (Mac version 3.7.2218.58) it says I am up to date. Is this a later version or is my check update not working?
-
@nedhamson: 3.7.2218.58 is this version. Your update already happened. macOS silently updates by default

For a couple of weeks now I have this very annoying issue where Vivaldi (stable, Kubuntu 20.04) is stuck in fullscreen after watching a video. I then have to restart the browser to get access to the address and tab bar again. I am strongly suspecting that this known and already reported, or should report it still?
-
@Holly I think it has already been reported.
