      Hello group.

To be clear, I am not talking about webmail.

I realize vivaldi email is a work in progress but -- for those who are using it -- I'm interested in your email workflow.

It seems like there are many filter type choices as in <folder><flag><label><filters><mailing lists><custom folders>

Do you use these filters in any particular order in your workflow; meaning how do you use them?

Someone in Tips/Tricks offered an interesting idea. That person uses Gmail to filter out junk mail. Then what is left over is forwarded to vivaldi mail.

I have, on the other hand, have elected to add 3 Gmail accounts directly to vivaldi email & those connections seem ok but it leaves me with experimenting with all the filter choices & not much else.

So, for example, if I add a flag or a label the email remains in the inbox but is definitely filtered to the appropriate group. I can create filters quite efficiently by search & saving which results in the same idea -- a list of filters.

I think the custom folders are created in the webmail account but I'm not sure & I don't know why I would even have them.

So to make a long story short, it seems to be a mishmash & I need some advice to understand the vivaldi mail system which is very different from what I'm used to.

      Thank you.

They are not a finished product, so I don't use them at all. As to Mailing Lists, this is something the client does on its own, but which you can modify by directing mail from certain sources into folders you originate yourself. I don't bother, because I am waiting for an option to turn off the Mailing List function entirely.

Flags, filters, labels and custom folders are a work in progress so I'm not messing with them at present.,

@janrifkinson I have all the buttons off in the the Unread folder by default and work from there.
That way I can check the mailing lists, custom folders, spam, and feeds separately from the most important stuff in the Unread folder.

@Ayespy You can already turn off the mailing lists if you'd like. Just "Ignore All" Uncategorized mailing lists and delete the mailing list groups.

I like having the mailing list groups at least since then I have complete control over what shows up in the mailing lists.

@janrifkinson I have a very simple email workflow, which is "receive email in unread, read email, and when I'm done with it, mark it as read".

But because I feel strongly about this, I wrote a little more about it 🙂

Usually on Win11 running Vivaldi Snapshot builds. Opinionated about working efficiently with email. Folders are evil | Mail workflow: receive, read, reply, mark as read, done.

Although I like the ability to read emails in the browser interface there are some components of the client that are not complete, as yet, so I read incoming mail in the browser but manage my mail in Webmail which (correct me if my perception is wrong) is a more stable product.
