If you're connected, Apple collects your data

If you're connected, Apple collects your data. No matter what.
It would seem that no matter how you configure Yosemite, Apple is listening. Keeping in mind that this is only what's been discovered so far, and given what's known to be going on, it's not unthinkable that more is as well. Should users just sit back and accept this as the new normal? It will be interesting to see if these discoveries result in an outcry, or not. IMHO it should go to "SECURITY & Privacy". That's the place I have tried to post but it landed here. Thanks in advance!

Looking at the number of replies to this thread, your question seems to be answered. It is the new normal. People upgrading to Win10 these days have to accept Microsoft to be their super-father who is watching every click they are making on this system. Initializing a new Android smartphone is like a proposal to Google till death do us part.
User data seems to be very, very attractive and Apple, Google, Facebook, Microsoft, and you name it won't be the last ones to utilize it. Most people aren't very affected by it. Is this the way into a new era of totalitarianism? I don't know but the similarity to George Orwell's 1984 is uncanny.
