Is there any one correct language on this forum?
-
What language is allowed/required here?
I read: https://forum.vivaldi.net
Next page: https://vivaldi.com/pl/privacy/code-of-conduct/
And also: https://vivaldi.com/privacy/community-terms-of-use/
Nowhere do I find anything similar to "on the forum you may only write in the language..." or "you may not use a language other than..."
Instead, I find:
This group's mission is to create a global community of diverse individuals who will support, challenge, and inspire one another by providing a platform for networking, support, and fun.
and
It's our aim that everyone feels welcome and can participate, regardless of their level of expertise or identity. For clarity, here is a link to wikipedia -https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Linguistic_discrimination
Below is the original version of my message.
Czytam: https://forum.vivaldi.net
Kolejna strona: https://vivaldi.com/pl/privacy/code-of-conduct/
I jeszcze: https://vivaldi.com/privacy/community-terms-of-use/
This group's mission is to create a global community of diverse individuals who will support, challenge, and inspire one another by providing a platform for networking, support, and fun.
oraz
It’s our aim that everyone feels welcome and can participate, regardless of their level of expertise or identity.Dla jasności podaję odnośnik do wikipedii - https://pl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lingwicyzm

@Ryszard What’s your point, do you want to write in a different language than English in the main forum? You will just force people to run your posts through a translator. Better keep other languages to local forums.
-
Well, that is it:
- you forced me to check the content of your message through the translator
- you referred me to a local forum, which made me feel discriminated against
- there is no "English" forum in the local forums, why?
I don't want to write, I'm just asking if there is a ban on writing in any language?
No właśnie:

@Ryszard So, Vivaldi is now being translated into 80 languages. What do you think the forum would look like, if all people would write in their native language? We would potentially have 80 different languages in a single topic. Might as well keep Google Translate on all day then. The main forum is the English forum. If you want to post there you should use English, out of courtesy to all the other people doing their best formulating English posts there. You can use a translation service to translate your posts into English, other people have done so and there is no rule against it.
@Ryszard said in Is there any one correct language on this forum?:

This makes no sense at all. I would have to translate my post to 80 different languages so no one feels left out. Think about that.
@Ryszard said in Is there any one correct language on this forum?:

I did not refer you to a local forum, I clarified you should use a local forum when you don’t want to translate your own posts into English.
@Ryszard said in Is there any one correct language on this forum?:

The main forum is the English forum.
Hope that clears things up for you.

Fwiw
- I’m more likely to help someone who writes in a language I can read right away
- searching is useful only as long as you don’t have to translate the search terms into all the languages that could appear

Hi @Ryszard
I think other's already explained the language rules on this forum. But I'll add a bit more from the team's side.Vivaldi forum is a global community, with members from all over the world with different cultural backgrounds, but to make communication among us all easier the de facto language of most categories on the Forum is English. It's ok to post in two languages and use machine translation, but English has to be included.
There are more people speaking certain languages, so for them we've also created categories in the Local Forum, where they can discuss things in their own language and people, who don't speak English at all, can ask their questions there. If you post in a non-English language in the main forum, your topic will be moved to a local forum. If there is no local forum and moderators have the time, they may add a machine translation for your post, but they're not expected to do that. And it's likely that you will get very few to no replies.
The forum would become very messy and difficult to use, if we allowed to post in all languages everywhere.
The account won't be banned if you post in the wrong language by accident, but if it becomes a frequent habit disturbing other community members and causing more work for the moderators and admins, we may consider actions with banning being the last resort.
Hope this helps.

No, you have not helped. Because you should not write about it but only point me to the relevant rules written in https://vivaldi.com/pl/privacy/code-of-conduct/.
Yes, I strongly urge you to write into these rules e.g.
Vivaldi forum is a global community, with members from all over the world with different cultural backgrounds, but to make communication among us all easier the de facto language of most categories on the Forum is English.
If you post in a non-English language in the main forum it's likely that you will get very few to no replies.
Because either
Vivaldi forum is a global community, with members from all over the world with different cultural backgrounds
or discrimination under
The main forum is the English forum.I realise that it would be very inconvenient to use, in the same thread, different language at the same time. But I dream of a situation where the thread author "sets", by use of the thread language. I write in a language recognized as the de facto language - I invite everyone to the discussion. I use a different language - I invite to discussion only those who are willing to use a translator, and in fact - to this discussion I invite only those who are intelligent enough to use a translator
By the way of translator - does the company consider inserting some kind of translator into the installed bookmarks or search engine?
Below, to avoid ambiguity, the original text.
Vivaldi forum is a global community, with members from all over the world with different cultural backgrounds, but to make communication among us all easier the de facto language of most categories on the Forum is English.
If you post in a non-English language in the main forum it's likely that you will get very few to no replies.
Bo albo
Vivaldi forum is a global community, with members from all over the world with different cultural backgrounds
albo dyskryminacja pod hasłem
The main forum is the English forum. Piszę w języku uznanym za the de facto language - zapraszam do dyskusji wszystkich.
Something strange happened and a message that was supposed to be "to everyone" was set as "to potmeklecbohdan"

Dziękuję:
