why is it downloading full installer while extracting , i wonder.
It's not "downloading" the full installer, it downloads the delta as usual but now, I guessed, it visualizes the process of rebuilding the full installer merging the previous one with the new delta, before closing Vivaldi and applying it. Before this update the local rebuild of the full installer was not visualized, that's it.

I have a software, which visualizes used network bandwidth.
And it showed a spike during "extracting" process.
Chart was noisy so I doubted it, but @juanvase report cleared my doubts. -
@npro Unsure about ratio matter, probably has to be fixed,
but as the title was merged in the thumb I presume we'll see an option to hide it.The option is already there. -
On 9gag site, when right clicking on a playing gif/mp4 video, on snapshot versions we don't have "Show controls" option. On the stable version of Vivaldi, there is that option. Can we have it in the snapshots too?
-
@bojneagu Can you share URLs to allow us to check? (But probably would be better to open a thread for that).
As 9gag has a lot of video sources in which the controls could - or not - be present. -
@Hadden89 Almost any video on 9gag would do(except YouTube ones), they use a gif-mp4 version for videos(example: https://9gag.com/gag/a4EGLXy ); I didn't want to create a new topic as the problem is only present in snapshots, so is, probably, a known choice, not a bug.
-
@bojneagu Wondering if chromium 89 (beta) does the same, as the snapshot is based on that.
In such case, is more a feature request than a bug. -

I see that many people don't like the new speed dials. I have to say though, I like the new look a lot
Imo
Pros:
- the url text is no longer in the rounded field:
Huge Con to me.
It's not now only part of the entire frame, which overlaps a greater portion now just for artistic something (not talking of the border around the thumbnail, which is going to be hopefully fixed), the text is now leftbound, has an opacity of 100% and the hover-effect is basically none.
On top of that, the border shares the general background color of the browser, which is difficult on the eyes if you have have chosen a bright background color. Chose vivaldi's default #f6f6f6 so I have it still distinct from the sites. But looking at the content with bright border burns in the eyes, especially in the evening and at night. The favicon option is nice and being able to enable/disable it adds to the customization-friendliness, without needing to use css.
I'm doing this another few days, but heavily considering rolling back - no matter what effects it has on my profile.

Hi,
Just noticed!
Thanks for this and its Icons.
From previous:
Is this entry?
Thank you
-
@Zalex108 I think that entry refers to this text in settings:

Yes,
Saw that too.

@Xerkrosis You can improve things a bit by editing the theme, and changing the background colour on a light theme from "#f6f6f6" to "#e8e8e8". You can also make the text more legible by changing the foreground colour to "#000000".

@xyzzy Thank you for your tips. I've began to play with the custom.css around.
I reduced the border, switched background-color with text-color, and aligned the text back to center.
Is there a guide or something to look up when it comes to the customization of the speed dial with css? -
@Xerkrosis The Vivaldi team does not officially support modding the browser's UI so the only information that you will find are tips developed by this intrepid group of users: https://forum.vivaldi.net/topic/10549/modding-vivaldi
Keep in mind that the Speed Dial is also undergoing constant change in this development cycle. You will see additional refinements in the next Snapshot as the Vivaldi team incorporates your feedback. This also means that many of the the user-developed Vivaldi mods will either become unnecessary or will keep breaking until work stops and the dust settles.
-
@juanvase The only way that I know of is to not show tab popup thumbnails. Then you will see just the page title. The tooltip will only show "Tab Stack with (n) Tab" for tabs in the stack that are not in focus.
-
@zalex108: No. It is the ongoing work to make document menus configurable. Note, in the next snapshot the text will be back in the menu (the quoted text from the selection in the webpage), but one can choose to remove it by editing the menu for that particular item in Settings.

Chart was noisy so I doubted it, but @juanvase report cleared my doubts. For what it's worth, I've had one laptop where it first downloaded the delta, then looked like it downloaded the full 68MB, and another where it actually didn't seem to download anything at all! The second one only showed the download dialogue for a fraction of a second, then the following dialogue box showed a progress bar zipping to 100% too fast to be downloading, in my opinion.
They mentioned for the previous snapshot something about a new background update component, so I suspect that's what we're seeing...

Most likely, they rewrote this component and made lots of fresh bugs. As usual.

Experiencing some odd behavior with tab stacks.
If I select several tabs in a tab-stack, right click and choose the option to create a new group out of x tabs, nothing happens
The only workaround I found is to open them in a new window, where thy open in a stack (which is also a bit confusing) and the move them back to the first window. Also if I select several tabs in a tab-stack by selecting one and shift-click on another, tabs and tab groups in the first level of tabs also get selected. Seems to happen every time when one of the selected tabs in the second row is further to the right than the most right tab in the first row.
Can someone confirm this behavior?
