In that case, it's a mercy that there's only a Pale Moon, otherwise you'd risk a Greek mythologyesque fate.
that's just midorible!

i don't quite understand why stable doesn't let me open local pdfs though, especially considering chromium and firefox do.
actually, i just figured out that stable does let me open pdfs.
it works if i have both the google PDF viewer and the internal PDF viewer checked in settings.
i don't need to have the google chrome pdf viewer extension installed though.don't understand why i need the google PDF viewer checked but that's fine!

@pradagio No no, i'm only teasing of course ... riffing off the "legendary" disdain that Gnomers "have" for Plasmoids, & Plasmoids "have" for Gnomers [by which ironic remark now i have also answered another of your questions... for the second time btw (see my earlier Conky pic again)].
Tbh i would never dare attempt to steer you re Nix
so it's been more than a year, gg, since we had this discussion, but i thought you'd like to know that i have stopped using gnome (even though it worked quite well for me).
i am now not using a desktop - just a window manager known as leftwm! ... and i do feel like an adventurer!
