Embedded PDFs on Xero break page zoom
-
Hi,
Does anyone else use Xero? There seems to be a bug with Vivaldi for a over a year with embedded PDFs displayed in Xero. When opening an invoice with an embedded PDF, the next page viewed is now "zoomed out" (everything is smaller). The zoom setting in the status bar still says 100% but the page can be restored to normal by changing the zoom level and then putting it back to 100%. I tried the forum search but couldn't see any similar issues reported recently.

Why version of Vivaldi and what version of macOS are you using?

I got the same issue using the following OS and Vivaldi versions:
Vivaldi 4.3.2439.65 (Stable channel) (64 bit)
MD5 422e3f53c5055d214398129edf198ce15d0fcdd7
Windows 10 Version 20H2 (Build 19042.1348)
JavaScript V8 9.4.146.24
Agent Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/94.0.4606.114 Safari/537.36 -
This has been along time frustration of mine. Sometimes it even happens without the PDF being interacted with and clicking a save button on a bill or invoice will result in the next page being several times zoomed out and very small.
After some digging the best I can tell is that in Vivaldi the PDF viewer and browser tab share the same zoom value.
You can see this when viewing an embedded PDF. If you change the zoom of the PDF the browser tab zoom in the status bar also changes.
It looks like the builtin PDF Viewer was implemented based on the assumption that it will always only be used full-screen on its own in its own tab.

@NaXsa yep I can confirm that it's not Xero-specific, but as you describe. Any usage of an embedded PDF viewer has this issue.
I wish they would fix it, it's something I have to deal with on a weekly basis.
