Hmm, I don’t have volume control on Vivaldi, there is only a mute button. I think there’s even a feature request out for it. And while you can make the pop out video pretty big, I don’t see a way to enlarge it to fullscreen. Not that it would make much sense anyway.

I don't really use PiP that much, but there are times when I find use for it.
However, for those of us who have turned off the PiP button because it's distracting, it would be good if Vivaldi would always give the option to (double) right-click to show the context menu and turn on PiP.
There are several sites, including Vimeo, where right-clicking does not give the option. Also on NRK TV for instance (they have their own button), BBC videos, or Telia Play. All videos should always give the right-click PiP option.
I understand that the context-menu is still controlled by Chromium and its PiP option is the Chromium one and not Vivaldi's. Hopefully this will get better once we get the custom context menus in place.

@guigirl: I suspect this article is more intended for people looking for a browser to try and convince them to switch, rather than to inform existing users.

Another thing that should be improved is the dimming overlay of the entire PiP window every time the cursor is over it.
I understand users need a way to know the PiP is active and taking input but surely there must be other ways to convey that than dimming the video? Some kind of outline as well as showing the controls would be a lot better.

You might want to put a "No" for Vivaldi for "Drag pop-out window to full screen", considering the fact that it isn't actually possible.
-
@GT500 It is not far off - About 91% of fullscreen.
- 1745 x 991 pixels on a 1920 x 1080 monitor.
Firefox allows the PiP video to be resized to cover two monitors, which is potentially useful.

@pathduck: Yeah, I concur that.
I use PIP a lot. What I'm missing in PIP is:- no PIP dimming (why the dimming is there?)
- bigger controls and play/pause in any PIP spot
- memorize size and location on the PIP window
Hopefully we will get that in near future

"Volume control," to most people, means a slider that lets one, ya know, control the volume. What you currently offer is a mute button, not a volume control. I have asked for volume control as a feature request and I know others have, too. It's strange to me because there used to be a volume slider as part of the Chromium base. It disappeared I think about a year ago for some reason.
It would thus be a HUGE differentiator for Vivaldi if it were to implement volume control back into their browser before any of its competitors do!!!! Is that motivation?
While I'm at it, it would be nice if the PiP window displayed subtitles as well.

Actually, while it is easier to open PIP in Vivaldi, I really like the way Chrome does it.
See this image from winaero.com:
Edit: that was a little unclear. The media controls is the dialog that is open. You can control any media that is playing, and launch PIP on videos.

It would be great if vivaldi add multi PIP as firefox (you can use it in firefox using advanced options)
-
on mobile it's atrocious, but that may be due to the screen being not suited to watching videos even on full size, and on desktop you can easily handle multiple windows or even screens so it isn't too helpful either, I always just disable the feature as it clutters the interface

@joeduffus: they tend to mark unfinished features as done and be oh so proud of it
mouse gestures (you can't bind rockers freely)
toolbar configuration (single purpose regions)
middle-click-on-tab-bar that doesn't work with default setup (tabs on top) -
@pathduck: Thank you for your input! I can see how that would make it more desirable
-
@dolven Sure
I mean, I have no problem with the one extra click when right-clicking and choosing PiP. Some people seem to like buttons for some reason, good for them.
Even more awesome would be the ability to launch PiP with a keyboard hotkey. Obviously there could be more than one video on a page, in that case launch the first item, or the currently playing one.
I strive for the moment of perfection in a browser where I do not need to use a mouse at all
-
@Pathduck It would be a long and winding road to get to this point. Vivaldi’s UI forces you to click and clack, or use tab navigation and cursor keys, which is suboptimal, to put it mildly.

@kamizuru: How you did it?
-
@geazisoares:
1 - Open firefox and type in address bar (confirme the box \o/)
About:config2- in Search type this
media.videocontrols.picture-in-picture.allow-multiple3 - Change False to True
4 - Reset browser -
@kamizuru: Tx bro!
