Window showing Closed Tabs... How do tell it NOT to remember?
-
I'm new to Vivaldi. Like it so far BUT I am disappointed I could not easily find a way to NOT show Closed Tabs in the "Window" sidebar.
I looked for it in Prefs - Privacy etc.
Looked online for the answer.
Finally had to sign up and come here to ask.
So:
How do I tell Vivaldi NOT to list my Closed Tabs?
Thanks in advance. -
Hi, the best you can do is collapse the folder so that you only see it (but not the contents).
-
@jimsocal You can Clear the list from the Trash Can drop list using the Access key for your UI Language.

The idea is to make it so NO one can see it if they use my browser. I do not even want to see it.
This will be a deal breaker for me as far as using Vivaldi if there is no way to tell it not to remember all my history of tabs. -

Thanks but I do not understand what you are saying at all. "Access key for my UI language"?
When I click on the arrow next to the Trash Can all I see are names of tabs I've had open and then Closed. -

(this list of tabs is from yesterday's session, having closed down the browser and my computer last night).

He’s talking about the trash button in the tab bar — there’s a Clear all item in the menu & the
c
is underlined → when you pressc
it’ll trigger that item (but the letter depends on language). So if I understand you guys, there is NO WAY to stop Vivaldi from recording this history even after I close my browser? (this list of tabs is from yesterday's session, having closed down the browser and my computer last night).
Well, there is one way that I hadn’t thought of — using private windows. But depending on your needs it may not be an option for you.
If you have chosen to save history for the session only, the closed tabs list should be cleared when you close Vivaldi (but I remember it didn’t work at some point; I don’t know if it’s been fixed since then).

Access key for my UI language
At the bottom of the Closed Tabs list is the option to Clear All. The access key is underlined. Press C to clear the list. If your UI language is not English then the Access Key may be something other than C.
Currently, there is no way to clear the list automatically. I reported this bug in June 2019 as a privacy issue:
(VB-54428) Settings, Privacy, Save Browsing History, Session Only Does not Clear Browsing History

What u need is use Private Window
when browse pornor anything u don't want Vivaldi to keep in history. Then u can also use Delete Browser Data to clear your tracks. Also, you probably want to disabled startup sessions with previous session. Plus, there are User profiles separating everyone accounts & sessions, so that no one have to see or destroy someone else data by accident. But, the best practice would be using separate OS account for every user & secure 'em with password.PS: simply hiding the trash icon & clearing it's content doesn't get rid of your browsing history. That's why we have private window & clear browsing data to get the job done with just a few clicks.
-
Just clear the history. Tools > History > click the little brush image on the right side.
