Gmail account not allowed. Vivaldi not secure.

  • I have 2 Gmail accounts that can be accessed in Edge, Firefox and Chrome, BUT Vivaldi will allow only 1 of them. Trying to access the 2nd account yields this Google message " Couldn't sign you in: This browser or app may not be secure". Why is this so? I really wanted to use Vivaldi as my default but will likely have to uninstall unless there is a fix for this. Right now it appears Vivaldi is not ready for prime time. So disappointed. Please advise. Thx.

  • I unchecked Crypto token, did a restart, and got to both Gmail accounts. Being the inquisitive cat that I am, I UNchecked Crypto Token and did a couple restarts and, 'voila', I can still access both Gmail accounts. Definitely something unusual going on. I am using Vivaldi 3.5.2115.87 (Stable channel) (64-bit)
    Revision 63862004ac4fa761fcf3c744cd6ac9ef44284b9c.

1st sentence typo: I checked the Crypto Token (it was unchecked).

@jb76006 Vivaldi is just as secure as google chrome - they share the same basic code.

Double check your settings in Settings > Privacy and make sure the "Crypto Token" is turned on.

  • @LonM : Thank you. Crypto Token box was not checked, so I checked it as suggested. Closed Vivaldi and reopened. No change. Still an issue..

@jb76006 Are you using any extensions? If so, try disabling them first before accessing the login page.

I've had this issue on and off for a few of the last Snapshot releases.
With this latest version I can access both my accounts where previously I could only access one account with the same error.
I have never used the Crypto Token option and still do not so I'm not sure that is the issue(?).
Having said that I have no idea what Crypto Token does. I thought it was for CryptoCurrencies so I've always left it disabled.

  • @jb76006

Thanks for the solution!👍🏼 Crypto Token turned ON.

  • Wait, it is supposed to be CHECKED in order to access multiple Gmail accounts?? I can access my accounts fine and I do NOT have it checked? Is this because I was logged in before already?
